My mortgage company did not pay my home owners insurance.

I have a escrow account with my mortgage company. About a year ago it was sold to another company. A short time later I receive a letter from my insurance company stating my policy will be cancelled soon due to non-payment. I contacted my mortgage company about it and they assured me that the payment will be sent the next day. I told the insurance folks what the lender said and they told me if they did not receive the check they would let me know. I did not hear back from them and did not follow up. My mistake I know.



Well anyway I had a pretty significant water leak in my casa that did damage to my hardwood floors ect. I called my insurance for a claim and they told me my policy was cancelled due to non-payment. The mortgage company is giving me the run around and cant give me a direct answer why the payment was not made. When I call now they transfer around and all I can do is leave a message. I have never missed a payment or a late payment. Any suggestions where I go from here?
