How do gun shops stay in business?

I've been looking for a Savage .17 and scope package and have emailed several dealers to get a price and lead time on ordering one. It's been over a week and not a one of them has bothered to respond. If I ran my business like that, I'd be out of business.



I guess if they're all too busy then I don't really need the rifle that badly. Their loss, I'll just wait until I come across something used and local.
