Warning - IRS Phone Scam

Last Friday, September 12th, my wife received a phone call from 323-786-0169 stating they were with the Auditing and Reassessment Department of the US Treasury, Division 78 and needed to speak with me. My wife, being the wise one she is, asked what this was about and the heavy accented Indian speaking man said that it was about my taxes from 2008 to 2012. He said he needed to only speak with me. My wife said we file jointly and thus she could answer any questions. He quickly hung up.

She called me at work and I though I would investigate this. I called and acted like I was concerned. This heavy indian accented man named "Jimmie Alter," badge #231987.NS, began to tell me that I purposely misfilled my taxes and that I still owed $3800. I said, "WOW, what do I do?" He said I have been avoiding them and their three attempts with certified letters and thus his call was to inform me that local police would be visiting me to arrest me for tax fraud.

I say, "Oh no, what can I do Mr. Jimmie?" He started to tell me how I could advert the situation when all of a sudden I let him in on my little secert that I knew this was a scam. He said it wasn't and that I was going to be arrested. I said I was going to report him to the IRS and local officials and that the call was recorded. He immediatly hung up. LOL

Anyway, after reporting this to the IRS and local officials, I just wanted everyone to be aware of this scam. According to the IRS website, this has been going on and thus far, these scumbuckets have taken over $5 million from 1100 people. Sad!!! I even checked with H&R Block who does our taxes and they said it is a big scam right now sweeping the nation.

The search said the number is from California and thus is another reason we need to get that big fault line out there to fall off into the ocean. LOL
