Question about Gauges swapping out etc..

Are most gauges run using the same types of wires etc? I have stock Suzuki Gauges and may be redoing the dash by newwiremarine and I am fairly mechanically inclined but just wondering if I can buy gauges like Faria and connect them using same wires etc as long as they are obviously hooked up tach to tach wires etc...basically are they interchangeable???
