Gunnison Report, Friday 7/24 from the FisherAmen

The FisherAmen departed from GYB Thursday evening with 10 aboard- Captain Jason Delgado, mates Julian and Jesse Delgado, Capt Dennis Crawford (DC), Critter, Bobby, Sam McCaskill, and the Alan Rude family from Oklahoma.

Enroute to Gunnison, we trolled around the Gardens during the day on Friday, 7/24 where we found the barracuda action hot and heavy. Dropping down for grouper, we likewise found the barracuda action hot and heavy. Given that wasn't what we were after, we moved on to the Hilltops. 6 tiles later, one of which was 25lbs, we moved on.

We arrived at Gunnison Friday nite where we encountered three other sportfishermen- The Blowout, out of GYB and a couple others we couldn't catch the names of. About an hour past sundown, the flying fish action came on in epic proportions. Like a mosquito infestation, flying fish were jumping in the boat and whacking into our crew. The YFT seemed delighted- the water was boiling with big yellows busting on the flying fish, coming as much as five feet out of the water to get them. Have never seen any action like that!

As a result, the topwater action was awesome. The take was 22 BFT averaging 15 lbs each but sadly only 1 YFT at 80lbs- too many breakoffs!

Enroute home on Saturday, we picked up a couple wahoo at 16lbs and a nice ling.

Photos attached prove it was real! Unfortunately, cannot figure out how to rotate some of the pics.
