Galveston Bay Report 7/29

These past few days have been tough on the channel with artificials but today we got 'em. Limetreuse bass assassins and Norton Sand Eel Jr's on a 3/8 OZ jighead was the ticket. Lost several redfish to sharks today. It was awesome watching the sharks chase those reds out of the water. Never lost a trout but several reds were eaten. I didnt get a chance to look at my watch but I am guessing the bite slowed down around 8:30 ish. We caught a few after that but most of our fish came early. We spent all of our time just off of the channel straight out from Eagle Point. They are slicking big time so they are easy to find.

I have been chasing reds on the rocks all over and using a shrimp and a popping cork thrown up tight to the rocks. If you dont throw it up there close you wont be in the strike zone. 12-14 inch leader with no weight on it is just fine to keep it from getting hung up on the rocks.

The incoming tide is where it is at right now so these next few days look very promising.

Plenty of openings in August so lets get hooked up!

Take a kid fishing!
