Humminbird helix si

I am looking at buying a humminbird helix 5 SI GPS side imaging sonar GPS combo tomorrow. I was hoping someone could give me a little insight on the unit. I was going to put a navionics hotmap premium microsd into it. Does side imagin and down imaging improve your knowledge as far as hunting for trout and redfish. What about down imaging? Any info on them would be appreciated
