blazer bay 2420 w/250 pro xs

hey guys,just picked up this boat. My first Mercury as well. The boat and motor are 2014 models. What are your thoughts on getting a little more top end out of this set up. Took it out Saturday for the first time and was disappointed. Was not able to get above 50. Conditions where smooth. your thoughts would be helpful.
