Any helicopter pilots on here?

I'm about to transition from military to civilian. Although I don't have any flight experience, I've always wanted to try it.



I was looking online, and Alvin Community College offers a flight program. I'm going to be attending school in Galveston/TX City for a while, so I'd like to stay somewhat local if possible.



Does anyone have any input on ACC's program?

Any input on training anywhere in the Houston area?



Any pointers, in general, for someone looking to fly? I'd like to do it for recreational reasons at first...but wouldn't put it past me to love it, and pursue a career. At the moment I'm going the medical route. If I could eventually land a life-flight job, that would be the best of both worlds.
