There is a really great guy, Andy Miller up in Wisconsin that has graciously made a series of videos about this and he has a channel on YouTube called Boatworks Today...
These are great videos for those that have never attempted their own repairs and a good refresher for those that don't do it very often.
For the first timmers that may be thinking of taking on a project, none of this is rocket science by any means but working with resins and gelcoats can be unforgiving, once you add the catalyst the working time you will have is no joke... And that will vary considerably with temperature and humidity.
With that said any fiberglass or gel coat that you apply can be removed by grinding it away enabling you to start over... the only thing being lost is time and materials.
