Tran Cat Livewell Issue

I have a new 180SVT with a livewell problem. Everything's just fine until the pump stops pumping water.In case you are not familiar with Tran Cats, the water pickup is thru the transom and is located about 6" from the bottom of the boat. When it stops pumping water, the pump gets noisy. The pump is a Rule 800 gph pump with the removable motor. With the pump still running, I can partially remove the motor cartridge and reinstall it and it starts pumping water again-maybe for a few minutes or all day. I have replaced the pump and still have the same problem. The water pickup seems a little odd because when the boat is on plane, the pickup is not in the water. I assume that Tran has used this system in the past with success.
