Conroe all night jugging 9/4/15

Nate and I left the house around 3:00 Friday afternoon. After stopping for gas and ice, dodging rain showers, fighting traffic, and stop at Whataburger, we got the boat launched about 5:30. With the rain and wind, the lake was rather choppy when we arrived, but gradually got calmer as the night went on. Water temp was 85.4 degrees F. The thermocline was around 20 feet, so we only fish 4 hooks per jug to keep all the hooks above the thermocline. We got our 24 jugs set with an assortment of bait: beef heart, cut mullet, cut shad, and shrimp. We decided to pass back by the jugs on the way back to the ramp to offload jug containers. We got 3 box fish after the short soak.

In addition to fishing the jugs, we spent some time drifting a couple of spots, but only picked up one fish. It was a slow night for fishing, so I spent some time training Nate on the sonar / GPS and let him do most of the driving. We only managed 14 box fish up to 3.5 lbs that gave us a full gallon of fillets, but no CPRs. Most of the fish were caught on shrimp and beef heart. We still enjoyed the night on the water.
