Outriggers question
My n2m boat has lee outriggers mounted which I don't think have been used for 2years... Had to unbolt tops to get in storage when boat arrive on Friday and noticed right out riggers I can turn but left rigger doesn't want to. Pulled the bolt pin and spring and both had oxidation on them so guessing this is the culprit. Anyone else have this happen before? And what is best fix. I was think some penetrating oil, then clean em and reassemble with lithium grease. Thoughts / pointers?

G3 DLX 1860 SC repower?
I'm contemplating repowering my 18ft 2008 G3 DLX. The boat has a dry weight of 880lbs with a Yamaha 50TLR 2-stroke. It was bought by my brother as a package boat show Special. Reason for the 50.
The boat gets up on plane pretty smoothly but I'm guessing (no speedometer) that the top speed is between 25-30 mph. My question. Would it be advantageous to power up by purchasing a Yamaha 4-stroke 70?
G3 claims that the 70 hp Yamaha on my hull would top out at 33-34 mph, and the 90hp 4-stroke at 38mph. I dont know enough about this type of boat to be sure about G3s claims. If I do purchase a new motor, it will probably have to be the 70. The 90 is actually bit out of my price range.
Any suggestions?
I would sell the 50 2-stroke which has less than 30hrs.

Prop for 21 Shallow Sport with 200 SHO
Just repowered my Shallow Sport with a 200 SHO and was wondering what props some of you with this setup are running and what numbers you are getting. Shallow Sport recommends a Powertech OSS or OFS in a 19 pitch, but Bauman props recommended a Lifter prop in a 17 pitch and the dealer where we bought th e motor recommended a Powertech CFS in a 17 pitch. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
New Garmin 76xx
How many of you have ordered one (or two ) and has anyone got it in yet? I was told that the strikes at west coast ports are the reason for delay. Sounds reasonable to me , but is this what others are saying too? I feel like that little kid waiting on his Red-Ryder bb gun and it's getting cold out here by the mail box!

Shimano Speedmaster IV for $10
My lovely and smart wife hit a garage sale and brought me home a broken Shimano Speedmaster IV that she got for $10. All that was wrong was the C- clip on the main gear shaft popped off and was loose in the spool. I took it apart, gave it a good cleaning, reassembled, and now it looks and works like new!

Houston Fishing Show
Its a great show this year with lots of really good exhibits.
Our own LLA has a really terrific booth with a first class video set up...proud to know and fish with you guys!! Sorry I couldn't hear Chris' presentation tomorrow.
I found some really good deals on tackle including a custom bait casting travel rod that is very hard to find.
The boats are totally awesome...but very pricey.
There's some really interesting booths for Alaska, Canada, Guatemala, and other closer destinations....its a great opportunity to talk to them in person, ask questions, and learn what's out there.
Really recommend the show...parking will probably cost you more than the show...but its worth it.

all excited about their decision to get married.
They go for a stroll to discuss the wedding, and on the way they pass a

Offshore venice la
I made it out over the weekend despite the less then ideal conditions. The water was blue and the fish were biting at least. Sunday we headed out in big swells left over from the 9 foot waves the day before. Started out 12 miles out and first rig we went by wahoo joined us in the boat. Only bite there and we headed to a close by rig and added another wahoo on a russellure. That was the pattern from there on out. The most fish we got off any rig was 2 but we got wahoo bites on most of the rigs we got to. Around mid day the guys werent feeling too good so we headed to the house with 7 wahoo to about 85 pounds in the box. Hit the dock right at 1 pm.
Monday was blowing 18-20 knots out the ne so we were gonna try to get some lane snapper but they were not cooperating. In fact we didnt even get one in the boat. So on to plan b which was troll some nearby rigs. The troll bite was off although we did get one blackfin in the boat and lost a 60-70 pound at the boat that was tailwrapped and went ballistic when i tried to gaff them and well he got away lol.
Pulled out the anteater jigs and made quick work on a limit of ajs and one almaco before we headed to the house.
Tuesday was supposed to be a little calmer so we rolled out. The blacks were biting on almost any rig we hit with the troll baits and we also got one wahoo to commit to a bomber.
Started chunking and picking away at 20-30 pound blacks on most every drift. Mid day the yf started biting and we put two in the 40-50 pound range in before we hooked a good one. Made a huge surface run before it settled in. Made another run and that was with a shark on his butt literally. We got most of the fish in the boat and the part we got weighed 115 pounds.
Got some more blacks to top the box off and made a pass by a rig on the way in for wahoo and first pass tripled up with two blacks and what I thought was gonna be another yf cause it went deep on us, but lo and behold a 92 pound wahoo popped up on a purple russellure.

Houston vs. Corpus
I collect Bingo and Hump lures and have been separating out the lures made in Houston from the Corpus lures. . This has left some holes in my collection. Would you mix the lures or create two separate collections. Houston era are easier to find, but since I fished the Corpus lures, they hold some sentimental value. Cost could be a factor. Any input would be appreciated.

A black guy and Murphy go into a pastry shop. The black guy whisks three cookies into his pocket with lightning speed. The baker doesn't even notice. The black guy says to Murphy, " You see how clever we are ? You Paddies can never beat that ! "
Murphy says to the black guy, "Watch dis, any Paddy is smarter din you, and I'll prove it to ya."
He says to the baker, "Gimme a cookie, I'll show ya a magic trick !" The baker gives him the cookie, which he promptly eats. Then he says to the baker, "Gimme anudder cookie for me magic trick." The baker is getting suspicious, but he gives it to him. He eats this one too.
Then he says again, "Gimme one more cookie..." The baker is getting angry now, but gives him one anyway. He eats this one too. Now the baker is really mad, and he yells, "OK ... so where is your famous magic trick Murphy ? "
Murphy says .... " Now just have a look in the black guy's pocket ! "

Summer Camp for Teen Ideas - Fishing Related?
My son actually came up with this question last year. Are there any summer camps that are really based around fishing? I'm hoping some of you have some ideas for me.
I am not looking for the typical summer camp that happens to have a pond or stream where the campers can wet a line and maybe catch something. My son is an avid fisherman, as some of you are aware. I am just throwing this out there and wondering if anyone knows of any summer camp or something of that type that would actually be geared around fishing and have some decent education and opportunities for a boy like mine. If not, somebody needs to start one! Looking forward to what ideas my 2cool friends have to share.
Thanks,
Tom

Summer Camp for Teen Ideas - Fishing Related?
My son actually came up with this question last year. I thought about Meadowlark's annual striper camp, but I hear that one is really tough to get into. :)

Hunting sheeps in the cold
I fished this morning expecting a warmer day but it was instead cold and windy. Only boat at the ramp this morning. Glad I went though bc those winter sheepshead are BIG and Fat. Today's catch we're the biggest sheeps I've seen so far. 20-23" consistently caught. All on live shrimp in GSC, I left at noon when the wind got worse.
what does a circle with a forward slash mean?
It appears on my Nexus top line, next to WiFi and battery. Seems to be new, but I don't know what it means. Everything seems to be working.
Say it ain't so...Tequila
Well I figured someone else by now would have said something about tequila being unmanned and halfway tore down. We were out there valentine day and it doesn't look good at all there's a new crane on it just to disassemble it. There's no more generators and it starting to look like a platform. We were out there a couple months ago and saw them doing some thing with the drill steam, thought they were drilling new well but I guess the we're pulling it out. We fished there for 3 hours with only 1 yellow edge and long tail seabass. It's seemed like there was nothing down there but eels and tons of them. I sure hope I'm wrong but it doesn't look good. Does anyone know more on this like if there taking it all the way from the bottom or leaving some of it.

Y egua Report 2/25/15
Not much different than my last few reports. Other than the change in the weather. Air temp had warmed up to the high 40's and the sin came out. Made it down to the creek after work again. Arrived about 5:00. Water was fairly clear with a slow flow to it. Picked up 5 from the first stop pretty quick, decided to move to where I had been having some pretty good action the past few trips. Met up with the only other fella out there and we fished together till well after dark. I believe between the 2 of us we took home around 30 fish including a couple nice crappie. I kept all my legal fish and made it home with 16 whites. Same bait and presentation as before.

Alps MD 4000 needs old os
I have a new, old Alps MD 4000 printer. I got it new from old stock when they quit making them. They will print foil and in white and do things many newe printers won't. I have nopt printed 6 pages total. I only use it and a dedicated old computer to print decals.
The old computer has died and the only drivers avail will work only in windows XP, NT, and 2000.
I make all originals in other programs (word, photoshop) then put on a disk and move to "old computer".
Who has an old xp or 2000 computer. Is that the way to go? I would prefer a smaller one as my work area is small. Can a laptop be bought and formatted and OS put on it? I have original friver disc for printer as well as XP professional. Office pro 97, ME and 98 upgrade, windows 7.
What is the most econo9mical way to get goin here? Is anyone out there who is familiar with this printer. It sounds like it wants to print then I get 2 or 3 different messages. From "your print job will take 5 cartriges, I only print 5 or 6 words. AND "printer not communicating with source". For some reason, when I try to re-install the driver it creates it's own port. Obviously I need help.
Thanks to the brain trust out there. I live in the hiway 6 and Clay road area.

Whiskey cabinet
Posted this on another forum I frequent and figured I'd share with you ladies and gentlemen as well
So forever and a day now, my whiskey has been banished to an extremely unorganized and very cluttered cabinet under my counter. I finally decided to remedy this issue and started working on a stand alone cabinet/mini bar for my whiskey collection. I even put some storage for momma's funny tasting grape juice.
Couple coats of Cherry stain
Managed to get everything stained and a couple coats of poly on today, just didn't take any pictures

AR Scope mount ?
A question for the collective wisdom of 2Cool, I have a scope with a 40mm objective lens and I want to mount it on a flat top AR. What class of rings do I need - short, medium, or tall so that the front of the scope will clear the rail. The AR has the top rail on the receiver continue down the float tube at the same height as the receiver.

I lost one of my pups.
Folks hugs your pups everyday as they are only with us for a short time. My sweet Bayla (one on top) was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and was complicated with a blood clot. She passed within hours of being treated and died in my wife's arms at home. Im still having a little ptsd from watching that go down but I glad we got to be with her til the end. She was only 5yrs.
Cancer usually takes this breed early but this caught me off guard. The only sign was you could see she did not feel good, finicky with food and a very slight labor to her breathing.

Come swing by our booth at the fishing show. We will have some great specials running, and releasing 3 new colors. One of he colors is designed by Capt. Mike LaRue. Most of you know this guy is an ace and throws artificials exclusively. Another one is a Capt. Billy Howell signature series.
In addition to all of our apareal and new colors, we will be raffling off a Sarge custom rod of your choice and a Waterloo rod of your choice for 10 dollars a ticket. We will stop selling tickets once the cost of the rod is met. Those tickets will go fast and you will have a great chance to win a 350 dollar rod for a small investment.
Swing through and hang out at the booth. I'll have some good music and cold beverages for my loyal customers. Look forward to seeing you guys at the booth.

Decompression deep water catfish
I have seen some videos where people are catching trophy blues from deep water and they are talking about letting the catfish decompress before release. I also fished with a guide in January where I landed a 35lb Blue and the guide inserted a wooden rod down his mouth and "burped" him before release. Can anyone give me information about the correct way to do this?

Lake Texoma Fishing Guide Report
Pretty cool screen shot here on the Humminbird 2D. The left side of the screen is the old data, and the right side of the screen is new data coming in. On this day, I approached a flat off the river channel and saw some fish literally laying on the bottom. The gar I saw earlier that day were really shallow and in the same depth throughout the lake, so I knew it was not gar. The return didn't really have red heads like a catfish, so I stopped on them. I had the clients send down some dead sticks and told them bounce them like slabbing, and to knock these fish on the heads and wake them up.
Below is the lure, bouncing on the heads of the fish.
Below you can see the fish holding on the bottom. You can actually see what way they are facing by the small red head. Any redder and I might have passed them, as catfish, due to they have a very distinct red head and blob return on my unit.
below right you can see the school I found, lift off the bottom and start to feed on whatever color fluke or swimbait or Road Runner, we sent down. It was ciaos when they started to feed and they were huge fish.
Fishing has been plain hard. But if you keep after it for 4 to 6 hours, you can set the hook into an absolute beast of a fish and watch your line just peel off the spool. Its a battle all the way to the boat. Then when the fish sees the boat, another good hard run happens. Just plain fun.
Everyday has been different. The patterns are constantly changing on how they want the bait presented and even the color changes daily.
Swampland in Houston
Just want to invite all my friends over to the fishing show this week. Will be setting up all day tomorrow and hope to see all of you in the coming week. Any helicopter pilots on here?
I'm about to transition from military to civilian. Although I don't have any flight experience, I've always wanted to try it.
I was looking online, and Alvin Community College offers a flight program. I'm going to be attending school in Galveston/TX City for a while, so I'd like to stay somewhat local if possible.
Does anyone have any input on ACC's program?
Any input on training anywhere in the Houston area?
Any pointers, in general, for someone looking to fly? I'd like to do it for recreational reasons at first...but wouldn't put it past me to love it, and pursue a career. At the moment I'm going the medical route. If I could eventually land a life-flight job, that would be the best of both worlds.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Trailer and boat repairs easy if you pay attention.
I will start by I am 51 and I know my pay grade. This weekend I was able to make a bunch of repairs and save some money on labor and parts. I replaced both axles on my Coastline trailer with a buddy. Was very easy if you go back with the same axles and holes align with bolt holes and no drilling is needed. Take out 8 bolts take off old axles and put new ones on. Done. Next was 4 wheels and taking tires off old wheels and putting on new. Let discount do that and didn't need to run all over town looking for new wheels. Discount even gave me a new tire for the one I lost. Replaced roller on front of trailer with goal post. Again easy.Replaced a speaker that went out. New speaker a tad bigger then old one. Roto-zipped hole a little wider and new speaker fits and works. Put on new ignition with kill switch. Stone and Son helped me here. Thought I had to replace entire throttle remote control. You don't if it just the ignition. I little tricky but with patience I figured it out. Also put new stone in bait well. Getting trailer lights 100% next. Boat trailers are Voo-Doo.
The Barbershop
A guy stuck his head into a barbershop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?"
The barber looked around the shop full of customer and said, "About 2 hours."
The guy left.
A few days later, the same guy stuck his head in the door and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?"
The barber looked around at the shop and said, "About 3 hours."
The guy left.
A week later, the same guy stuck his head in the shop and asked, "How long before I can get a haircut?"
The barber looked around the shop and said, "About an hour and a half."
The guy left.
The barber turned to his friend and said, "Hey, Bob, do me a favor. Follow that guy and see where he goes. He keeps asking how long he has to wait for a haircut, but then he doesn't ever come back." He must be going some place where he gets seen right away.
A little while later, Bob returned to the shop, laughing hysterically.
The barber asked, "So, where does that guy go when he leaves?"
Bob looked up, wiped the tears from his eyes and said, "Your house!"

2/20 White Bass
I don't do much freshwater fishing anymore, but when I was in college every spring I usually made a few trips to a creek to hammer some white bass. Being that it was the start of the Lenten season, I figured I'd stop by one of the old spots and see if the white bass run was on. I got there around 11:00 to overcast skies, cool temps and some good lookin creek water. A little greenish tint to it and it was moving pretty good. First spot I tried, nada. The creek was up higher than I'd ever seen it, so off into the woods I went to look for some new spots upstream. My thought was that with the weather we'd been having along with the arctic blast that was on the way, they'd be staging in the deeper holes. I mainly looked for sharp bends in the creek with steep sides. Kinda like this
or this
I started out using a little roadrunner jig with a curly tail on a spinning rod to run recon for me. I figured I'd do that to locate them then switch over to my fly rod once I found them. About an hour in, I found them and setup with my fly rod.
I threw #4-#6 weighted clousers in pink/white and chart/white. Color really didn't seem to matter much as long as you fished it near the bottom. For the next few hours, I was able to catch fish on almost every cast. The other casts were either catching tree branches, brush or small woodland creatures. I'm not the best with line management so I'll chalk it up as a lesson learned. The females I caught were really fat, so I assume they still haven't spawned. I ended up keeping a few for the frier. Warning: Gratuitous stringer shots
Yes that's my 8wt rod and yes it was overkill, but it's all I gots so deal with it. The rest of the weekend was spent with these idiots

Best transom mount trolling MG vs MK
Looking to buy a 24volt 80lb thrust, I know most the whaler guys are using the motorguides but I could get a better price on the minnkota. The shaft on the motorguide is 45" vs 42" with the kota. Its going on a 17 whaler. Which motor should I get?

Skin Cancer
I've had some cut off before but I now have more. Guess, its my own fault but all those days of fishing in high tops with blue jeans & no shirt finally caught up. Not mentioning surfing, laying out, & basically growing up only wearing a pair of shorts & playing outside from the crack of dawn till dusk didn't help.
I was yup a true white boy, blue eyes, blonde hair, & fare skinned.
I now wear a sun hat & use sun screen religiously.
Back in those days the only thing we used was the white nose kote.
Just a reminder for everyone especially the kiddos wear sunscreen. I tell my son, but he never listens. Wonder where he gets that from. LOL:headknock

Cabo san Lucas Fishing Report and Baja
Jc Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report.
As the Admiral Seas It
Fishing Report: 2/16/15 to 2/23/15
Stop By Our Office for up to Date Fishing Report.
HEADLINES: February 23, 2015
Jc Charges fish report editor with “tampering with evidence and spying” and vows revenge!! Jc the owner of Jc Sportfishing and the so called ‘King of Big Game Sportfishing in Cabo’ has done it again and this time he might have taken things a little too far? Calling me, the editor of the fish report ‘a Spy’ and told me I was trying to infiltrate his fishing kingdom and in his own words to me, Jc said, “I will ship you back to Southern Missouri to fish for Bullheads if I have to”. Ok Jc, prove Spying and tampering with evidence charges!!! Next week I will explain the charges Jc has levied against me!!! STAY TUNED?? For now lets get to the report!!
Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.
WEATHER: It has been pretty darn nice here in Cabo over the last week with mostly sunny days and warm weather. I remembered last Sunday as I was writing the report it was raining, but really not the case this week it has been really nice all week. Most days highs are in the low to mid 80,s and lows from low 60,s to mid 60,s. I was driving along the coast yesterday going towards San Jose in the Cabo Real area and I looked out at the water and it was so calm and looked like a lake.
WATER: The water has really just started to change into cooler temperatures and we have some green water in the area and that isn’t helping matters any.
This link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja. http://ift.tt/1yf3HC5
BILLFISH: Well, I hate to say it, but the fishing has been pretty slow over this past week with just a few Marlin off the light House on live bait. Most of the decent fishing has been on the Pacific side and we had to run like at least 15 to 35 miles north to get into some good action but even that was hit and miss. Not sure what to expect this coming week we are hoping it turns around.
DORADO: Pretty slow Dorado fishing and it is really spotty everywhere with nothing schooling up. The day we did run on our own Bob Marlin up the coast 35 miles by Cerritos area, we did catch 7 Dorado that day and 2 Wahoo. One of our buddies did run down to Gordo Banks but not much luck he only caught one little Dorado.
WAHOO : We caught a couple up and around Cerritos beach north of Cabo but really that is about it?
TUNA: None!!! I haven’t heard of a lot of of Tuna being landed this past week. If you do run into them, I think you will have to run offshore about 25 to 35 miles to maybe run into them if you can find a school of Porpoise.
INSHORE: Well the Sierra fishing inshore has even slowed this past week and we're hoping with the cooler weather that the Yellowtail show up soon. The Sierras have been landed using hootchies in front of the Solmar to the Light House. There has been some Red Snappers also in the Pedregal Rocks caught on live bait. Really most of our fishing this past week has been way up the Pacific about 12 to 35 miles.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://ift.tt/1kqvlb5http://ift.tt/1yf3GOB

River Locks Colorado/Brazos ...
Anyone navigate through them recently ... ? I've got the numbers to the lock houses (my boat doesn't have a VHF radio) - I was wondering if they were still doing that nonsense where they'll only open on the top of the hour ... ?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

discouraged....
feeling kinda like I really muffed a test...I currently work for a big corperation, I work in the maintenance department hand and hand with the in house techs.. however Im just a contractor, well my boss which works for this corperation really likes my job performance, and has reached out to management for me to fill an open spot in the shop, I honestly work as hard and fast as I can safely everyday. well the head of HR contacted me personally and sent me an email with an assessment test, ive never taken one before, after doing the personality part i felt really good about things, but then it happened... the next part was mechanical, I know I missed some questions and I didn't get to finish the last 3 questions, I ran out of time.. I feel like I really blew it.... I have worked very hard to get this chance, and I just couldnt feel any worse about it..... im seriously loosing sleep over this test.... does anyone know how these aptitude test are graded? can someone give me some insight? any info or encouragement will be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.
Winter Wonderland!
I was in the right place and time again today. While I was taking pictures of pipers this afternoon along my shoreline in Poquoson when a Coopers Hawk flew right past me and dive bombed the Pipers. I managed several shots before he flew back past me empty clawed. Here is one of them.
There were hundreds of Pipers.
Piper Worm Tug Of War!
Slurping up a worm.
Looking for lunch.
