I was traveling on a road between the Brazos River and F.M. 359 and was passing an estate with a large pond. I was looking at the pond when I saw the Eagle standing on the yard in front of the pond.
He or she was an awesome bird about as tall as a full grown Labrador sitting, maybe even larger, with a beautiful white crown coming down to his shoulders. I was going about 35 or 40 and when I saw him and hit the brakes. I was not even cool about it. I came to a stop and started backing up as another vehicle was coming up the road behind me. I grabbed my cell phone to take a pic when the vehicle drove up behind me and basically got on my bumper when the Eagle took off. Look like beauty flying away.
The estate I am referring too has a large pecan orchard and was wandering if he maybe nesting over there somewhere.
Anyway I have seen one around 290 and Barker Cypress a couple of years ago and saw on on the bank of the East Matty two years ago. Glad to see them I hope their come back continues.
