As some of you know the bridge tender at the Sargent Swing Bridge doesn't like fisherman and he had put signs up banning fishing from the shore on the Island side of the bridge. When we contacted the District Eng. in Yoakum he was open to listening and stated he thought he could accommodate the request to reopen the South west side of the bridge to fishing. At that time he stated he wasn't sure about the South East side next to the little metal building due to concerns over some moving parts located on that side. I figured getting half back was better than nothing. The timeline was early Fall when we had this conversation.
I contacted him again after Christmas when the no fishing signs were still in place and he seemed surprised the issue had not been resolved. I am happy to say as of last week all of the no fishing signs on the Island side have been removed.
