Matagorda??

I have the chance to go down there in a couple of weeks to go fishing. So i want to bring my boat and get a duck hunt in. We figure we are going to hunt salt lake and redfish lake thats right under caraancahua bay. we are staying on the east side of the bay and will drive the boat across to the lakes. My question is I have heard the bays are sallow down there, dont want to run a ground does anybody have any info about this area NOT asking for peoples honey holes. I plan to do some scouting of my own but any help getting to know the area would help greatly thanks
