Any small tractor mechanics. Kubota L2900 GST.

I found a really good deal on a 1996 Kubota l2900 4x4 that has been sitting up a few years. Even comes with a small 4' bush-hog. No loader. Tractor is suppose to be fully functional but has a hydraulic leak. Owner had something with the transmission fixed by Kubota 10 years ago and it has leaked ever since he got it back. He said the tractor will have to be split in half to be fixed but believes it to be a seal or a gasket.

Anyway this would be my first tractor. Really picking it up as a project to work on with my 4 year old son as he is obsessed with tractors. What are some things that i need to check? Any know what a shop may charge to spit the tractor and fix the leak? I have checked various websites and parts are still readily available for the tractor. Thanks
