Just got back from Big Lake on an aborted 2 day trip. 1st day, tues., one of my fishing buddies began to have seizures and passed out twice as we were racing back to the dock. This all began at about 10am after we had boxed about 8 nice trout on tops and were sitting in the middle of a load of big reds. We had caught about 6 28"- 32"reds (oversized) when the episode began. Turns out he had a heat stroke according to the DR. at the hospital. Very scary when you see someone roll their eyes back and begin convulsing. Thank God he seems to be OK now and is headed back to Victoria tomorrow. Well, there will be another time.
Many thanks to Capt. Bruce Baugh for knowing exactly how to handle the situation. He has many years w/ the HFD and is not only a great guide, but a man who I would trust in any emergency situation.
Be careful out there. It's getting awfully hot especially on calm days.
