I had the day off, and took trapperjon out, so he could do some fishing and get a few for the table.
the fish were still hitting tops so we bugged out for a ridge top and jigged it for a while.
trapperjon brought his own rig and soon saw what it takes to land good stripers. a good one smoked his stuff right off, gill cutting the line.
We rolled up some depth hunter braid I get in bulk and a bite tippet with split oval connecter.
He did better them but keeper stripers avoided us.
We end up with aboutm35 white bass, I stopped the clicker at 20, but kept quite a few more I didn't click as we came in and worked the pet fish near the marina.
They were on a pretty good bite, some folks trolling there were tearing them up, yesterday and today.
We came in and trapperjon filleted them up to take home.
I got to shuffle.
:walkingsm
I see Jon has started the habit of taking pictures of the catch in the traditional Beacon Bay fish house setting. So maybe he has some he came put up, or he send to me so I can.
Fishing with Jon is fun, his usual gig is beyond the breakers in a kayak for sharks and reds, but like any Polk ounty resident knows how to catch a white bass on the lake.
WEe will be taking some time to get the shad tank out and get it going.
there are a lot of stripers and even more white bass.
So to get those stripers right now, some live shad can't be beat.
That's whee a young man like Jon is a good thing!
