Icom M424 VHF to Lowrance HDS

Nee some help guys. I have this on the THT but not much in response. I am trying to link my HDS to my Icom so that the VHF is picking up the grid on the radio. Right now it is connected green wire to green and green/yellow to green/yellow. This is how the boat shop was told to make the connection from the two companies. In saying that I have not gotten it to work:headknock, and have went through all the setting in the NMEA 0183 that is required for proper signals to be sent. My NMEA 2000 kit on the other hand is off the hook and cant wait to get this thing back to the coast.
