Fishing Port Aransas?

Hey guys, heading down on family vacation to Port A for the first time ever Friday. I have never seen or know nothing about this area. I'm sure I can find a few places to wade with my 15 & 17 year old but my 6 year old is a little short to wade. That little boy loves to fish and is pretty good. Are there any areas in those parts where you can take a 6 year old without a boat to catch a few fish other than heardheads:D
