I was out tracking a pig I shot today and while walking through some wet, tall grass I heard a sharp squeal from beneath my feet. I jump back thinking I'd stepped on a baby rabbit because that was what it sounded like, only to be surprised that I had been standing on a 2 foot water moccasin. I shot him and vacated that immediate vicinity thanking my lucky stars and Jesus that I was wearing good boots and that I'd not shat myself. Has anyone else ever had a similar experience where you heard a cotton mouth squeal like that. It really surprised me. But I was very thankful for the squeal because had I not heard it he may have been able to bite me, because I couldn't feel him beneath my feet from the mud and tall grass and sticks.
