Friday we got to falcon before daylight and one of my guys started throwing a popper while I got rods down and everything out up and rigged. And his 3rd cast he caught a big jack. No black fin to show. We started trolling and didn't have any luck all day so we decided to try a new spot for tile fish. We ended up catching some as soon as our baits hit the bottom and hat kind of saved the trip that day. Saturday we got a lay start and started trolling around 8 am at the breaks and caught 2 dolphin within the first hour and nothing after that. My dad wanted to catch a tile since he has yet to catch one so I pulled up and we made our first drop. And on the first drop he pulls out this slob. 41" which is an inch bigger than the current state record that was set just a few weeks ago. So we thought we had it! Continued to catch tiles and headed in. And even though it was longer it ended up being just shy in weight to the current state record.
