Livingston dam/ My dam Review and report

I have been to the dam three times in the last 20 days, I have not been down there in many years before that, First trip caught white bass on pet spoon, and white grub tails, second time I could not buy a hit on either one of them lures and switched to a over sized rooster tail, that was the ticket and limited out by 9 am, the other day the same amount of gates and water flow, I thought this would be a good time to take my dad and Father in law and put them on some fun, boy was I wrong, I don't have a clue what went wrong but we caught two keeper white bass in 3 hours of fishing, I watched some long rod guys catch some nice cats right next to me, I have always wanted to try that, goes to show ya, fishing is fishing, not catching. I got home broke out my surf rig and wanted to see if I might be able to reach the catfish grounds up by rocks, I was chunking it pretty far but with a 3 and 4 oz weight, no cork or anything. I might try it but will most likely look like a fool loosing high dollar corks and tackle.

On a funny note from trip the other day, What man can pass up a nice new cork floating down the river, we pulled up to it and my FIL picked it up and an alarm went off, we thought it was one of our phones at first, but after looking it was on a rod set out on bank, we dropped it of course, there was a boat down the way, I think it said alligator gar on the side and they were running gar lines, if your on here sorry about that, we did not see ya down river. I attached some pics of my set up, let me know if I have a shot at catching something close to that tail race up there, sorry for the long write up.
