I used to be a lot more active on these boards. I used to read the reports almost daily, and provided reports when I went out. Fishermen providing intel for fishermen. Good stuff. That being said, over time I started to notice an annoying trend on this site, that more and more fishing reports were becoming less fishing reports, and more advertisements for charters/guides/outfitters/etc.
Being the analytical individual that I am, I started to record some of these "fishing reports" provided by many of the above mentioned sources. After about 6 months, I found that many of the "faux-reports" (as I now call them) were not reports at all. They were regurgitated pictures of past fishing trips of their clients. I found one instance where a "fishing lodge" had reused the same picture of a client, on three different reports dated nearly 3 months apart.
Now I enjoy reading about some good fishing action, but when it gets to the point that I spend 10-15 minutes weeding through all the advertisements-made-to-look-like-fishing-reports to find the genuine ones...this site begins to loose a lot of its attraction.
I would challenge 2cool to create a completely separate forum specifically for reports given by guides and charterers. this way, those of us who simply want to read real actual fishing reports from other straight forward anglers, won't have to wade through the endless attempts of people trying to sell us *****.
