Fixed or floating docks what do you have where you boat?

The boat club I am a member of has fixed docks and I really have noticed how wind and tide effects them. Wind blowing out and tide out. Close your eyes and jump down on to your boat. Wind and tide blowing in your boat just might be level with the dock. Or in a few spots docks are below water.

I have noticed in pictures the floating docks come really close to step ons for a pontoon boat
