Looking to get into Flyfishing
The other day while I was chunking lures on one my favorite flats, I saw 2 guys hooking up with fly fishing gear and it looked like a lot of fun. I have wanted to learn for years and have now made up my mind to get a set up and learn. I would mainly be targeting reds and trout. Looking for recommendations on what gear would best serve my purpose (brands, size, etc.). From the little research I have done most recommend an 8wt but open to suggestions.

Ran out with some extra fuel on the back deck. Seas were manageable but still a little choppy from the night before. Made decent time out. Stopped to troll on the way out and picked up a Dorancho. Continued our quest offshore and the action didn't pick up until midnight. Once it picked up it was ON like Donkey Kong. We ended up rounding out the box with 9 Yellertooths and the lonely Dorancho. The fish wanted top wallahs which was fun to watch from the bridge all night. We slow boated back inshore during the early morning and ended up running home once the sun came up. We hit a bonus rain shower that washed some salt and blood off the boat. We had Keaton, myself, Jeff, Chad, Tim, and Travis onboard this go around. Hopefully the fair winds and dry skies will stick around through September and maybe October.
If anyone knows the owner(s) and/or captain(s) of the boat named "Sandman" out of Freeporto please PM me. I have a very nice photo of their boat that they may want to have. I'll be happy to email it to them.

I am looking to go from a handle to wireless trolling motor. I am considering either a Ipilot or Xi5 configuration. I do not know much about either one so I am not sure what would best fit my application. I have a Alumacraft 1860 and am running a Hummingbird 998. I know some of the new trolling motors can be linked to the fish finder, but I am not planning on using that feature. I just want to have the Anker and wireless controlling feature. I know my boat is light, so I am thinking a 12 volt 55 lbs would suit me fine on Livingston. Do ya'll think I should go up in power, 70 or 80 lbs. I would like to keep to a one battery system.

Thanks to Dan from West Houston Honda Motorcycles, interrupting his morning wade to Tow me from the Pipe Line to the intercoastal canal where Tim From Busha Boat Works in Bay City towed us the final twenty miles. Hats off to Both of them, will repay them soon. Dan called the Sea Tow in Port O'Conner, the tow man requested $1,500 to tow back to Matagorda Harbor. Dan relayed the message to me after he said no thanks and hung up the phone.

We got 3rd place in trout division this weekend thanks to the chicken on a chain. We were actually looking for flounder to complete the stringer of three, ** trout, red, flounder** when I hooked this fat girl. 4.2 lbs. Thanks chicken boy!

Prop Selection on Shearwater 25LTZ??
I recently purchased a 2013 Shearwater. Yamaha F-300XCA. It came with a Yamaha Saltwater Series 3 blade 19 pitch prop. My first day out, I noticed that it took allot for the boat to break over on plane, and required allot of tab to stay on plane below 30mph. 3500 rpms is roughly 30mph. I was thinking of trying a 21 with a little more cup to get some stern lift, and hopefully not have to use as much tab. Any suggestions or experiences?
