The phone rang about midnight and it took a minute to find my cell phone before I answered. It was Daddy. He asked if he woke me and laughed and asked, "This early, are you kidding?" He said he'd have been shocked if I were asleep. We discussed how he was doing - he was in pain when I was up there earlier - and how he'd enjoyed his dinner and so on and so forth.
He finally stopped and said, "Man alive, you sound JUST like Rita tonight." I said, "Daddy, this IS Rita, were you trying to call Momma?" "Oh, hon, yes I was!" We both got a laugh out of it.
Me for more than just his mistake. Momma is 80 and he was surprised when he thought he woke her... guess I know where my night owl tendencies come from. To me, she and I don't sound alike but Grandma used to start each call with "Is this Louise or Rita?" But for Daddy to confuse us ... oh my, we must be spending too much time together. The more we're together the harder we are to tell apart.
Totally off subject - but my mom is Louise and my former mil is Thelma. Everyone laughed when Thelma and Louise walked in ... two little, elderly ladies under 5'.
