Crude oil settled up 8 percent, or $3.71, at $48.24 on Friday, its best day since June 2012, after data showed U.S. drillers were slamming the brakes on the shale drilling boom.

"The temptation to modify the teachings of Christ with the hope that larger numbers may 'accept' Him is cruelly strong in this day of speed, size, noise and crowds. But if we know what is good for us we'll resist it with every power at our command. To yield can only result in a weak, ineffective Christianity in this generation, and death and desolation in the next. To try to get souls saved at the expense of the glory of God, is to cheat God of his glory, and not get souls saved anyhow. We just make proselytes who aren't Christians, but something else. The methods of the Holy Ghost are pure, holy, clean methods, and they are such methods that shall humble the flesh. They keep you sometimes in the state of suspension because God wants to humble you. But if you won't take the humbling and you won't wait on God, then there are always methods of raising money, methods of getting things done. You can learn from TV, you can learn from Madison Avenue, and you can learn from businessmen...."

Mark 4:35-41
On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples :
“Let us cross to the other side.”
Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.
And other boats were with him.
A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat,
so that it was already filling up.
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion.
They woke him and said to him,
“Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”
He woke up,
rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!”
The wind ceased and there was great calm.
Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified?
Do you not yet have faith?”
They were filled with great awe and said to one another,
“Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”

How long would you wait for a custom rod?
I ordered a Laguna rod, customized specs, my grandson's name on it, etc, via a store here in SE Texas. It was ordered ~1-1/2 to 2 weeks before Christmas. I paid half down for a deposit. Still no word from the store. I've called ~ once per week to ask about it, and they still don't know me ... we start all over each time I call.
I plan to go to the store and ask for a refund tomorrow. I've already told my grandson I'll just give him the money. He seems ok with that ... sort of a late Christmas gift.

Shimano core 50mg7 with chronarch ci4 handle
Feels freaking bad ***! Definitely an upgrade. Never thought a handle would make such a difference. Had to toss and chronarch ci4, pulled the handle off to save it and figured I try it on the core. Fits good, the star drag hits the handle just a bit. A vice and some pliers did the trick. Don't everyone do it now haha

Mercuy Trim Tabs - Removal Help
Trying to remove my Mercury Trim Tabs. I removed the 3 nuts from each and all of the hydraulic hose connections. The things won't budge. It looks like there is some 5200 between the trim tab brackets and the hull. Am I missing something, or how would you loosen the 5200 behind it?
Thanks in advance.

Finished and Tested
I was finally able to get the total rig out the other night for a test. Took about an hour to get the guider all working but the results were fantastic. 7 arc seconds of error in the RA axis and 5 in the DEC axis. Thats up there with the 8 and 10k mounts. Keeping the weight low vs the capacity and careful 3-D balancing does wonders. Its easier to get things framed now since I can use the handcontroller or software buttons from inside the house. That came with the upgraded electronics for dual axis motors. The guide camera (Lodestar) is really sensitive and low noise. I had an ST-4 the last time it was the first autoguider and it was terrible compared to this one. I had my pick of guidestars easily with a 2 sec exposure. Had a little overshoot on one axis the one I let the program figure out instead of actually testing it. Had the guiding rate a little too high so next time I can tweak that error out. Wasn't much 1.5 or so pixels. But since the mount is tracking so well it only had to correct the position on 30% of the frames shot in the 11 minute run. So 70% perfect on the first run. Of course the cost has gone way up with the capabilities. Not so bad since I can use it for more than just astro. Lots of wires running everywhere now. Looks like a proper imaging mount.
Business end.
Mount and dual saddle with Canon and guide scope and camera. The DEC axis clamps onto the truss just like the single axis camera mount arms.
The guide scope and guide camera. Tiny thing only 1.25 inches wide.
Tons of wires. But it all works and works very well
No excuses not to get some killer shots of deep space. I have to have more surgery or I could loose my leg. Hopefully stents so I'll only be down a few days but if they have to go in there and clean it up it will be 6 weeks. Won't be for 3 more weeks so I'm hoping the weather will clear up for a few days and I can get some images to work on while I'm down.

21ft Kenner Interior Makeover
I've owned this rig since 2002, so I figured I'd go for another 13 years or more. After repowering with a 150 ProXs this month, I brought the boat to Mercedes Fiberglass for an interior makeover. The plan is to move the trolling batteries into the new compartment in front of the front deck. Which will free up one side of the storage in the back.
Here some before and progress pics. I'll post more as the boat progresses. They are spraying the gel today.

Prop selection on a scooter
I'm a ways from it, but I'm just trying to do a little research on prop selection. I'm rebuilding a 13' Dargel Skooter. I'm keeping it as light as possible. I estimate it to be around 1500 lbs. at most with persons and gear. I have a 40 HP mariner magnum going on it. RPM range is 5000-5500 max. Gear ratio is 2:1. The current aluminum prop is all chewed up but was a 15p13dia. It was originally mounted on an aluminum 14' semi-v hull. I don't know the performance #'s with that set up. I'd like to run 40 at least with the prop I go with. Any ideas on pitch and diameter needed for that goal? It has a 13 tooth spline. I prefer a 4 blade as I've never run a 3 blade before, so I don't know if I'd even feel a difference?

Why is this important?
Right now, the Gulf Council is in session in Point Clear, AL, voting on how to ‘finish the job’ of giving your fish to a few charter boat owners. Perrett, Pearce and Greene could be the deciding vote in moving forward with this highly contested and overwhelmingly opposed idea called Sector Separation (Amendment 40). They did not disclose to the Secretary of Commerce (and the public) that they are on the Board of Directors for Gulf Seafood Institute, which is a known supporter of Sector Separation and is involved in lobbying on Capitol Hill. They have been in violation of the law by not disclosing this on their NOAA Form 88-195 Statement of Financial Interests.

New Ford truck help
This is kind of a kick off the other thread involving F150s and 1500s.
My '08 Chevy z71 300000 hard miles finally went night, night and am interested in the '14 Ford. I had very little issues with the chevy, but looking to make a change to Ford, i guess for a change in scenery. Where in the Houston area is a good place to look? I know dealers are everywhere, but looking for a deal and don't have not much time to look.
Thanks

Righty-Lefty mystery
Why is it, that with a spinning reel you reel with your left (if you’re right handed), but with a bait cast you reel with your right?? I’m right handed and I reel with my left with both reels, using my right arm to fight the beast. It ****** me off when I walk into a sporting store, and all they have is righties to look at . Even the store clerk at my local Academy says that it’s backwards, and doesn’t understand it either.
I know I’m not the only one that finds this strange. Both of the guys that I fish with agree with me….. who else?

Purchasing a 2014 Ford work truck
The 2cool brain trust was so helpful on helping me with my sister-n-laws SUV (ended up going with the Honda CR-V) that I thought they might be helpful with helping me to locate a new work truck for one of my employees. Specifically I was thinking my best deal would be on a 2014 Ford (since they recently changed body style) V-8. I really want it as basic as possible except 1) I need 4-wheel drive 2) need extended cab (but doesn't have to be crew) and would like the longer bed but its not necessary 3) back-up camera would be nice. Other than that, I'm easy. Kinda looking for the best deal on a new vehicle (or slightly used) that I can get new car financing on.
Any input or offers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

'Filoncino' (Considered the Classic Italian Bread)
There has been many requests for this recipe due to the recent bread thread on the main board, so I figured I'd post it here as I never expected so many requests.
While there are a number of different 'Italian' breads, 'Filoncino' is considered by many to be a classic Italian bread... and it's drop dead simple:
'Filoncino'
3 1/2 Cups unbleached bread flour
1 1/2 Cups water
1 Tsp. instant yeast
2 Tsp. sea salt
1/4 Cup yellow cornmeal
Combine the flour with the yeast, sea salt & 1 1/2 cups of warm water. The dough should come together, forming a somewhat sticky, smooth ball. Add a little more flour if the dough is wet or a little more water if it is dry. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Turn the dough out onto the counter & knead it for about 5 minutes, then shape it into a ball & transfer it to a floured bowl; sprinkle it with a little flour & turn it to coat with the flour on all sides. Cover and let rise at room temperature for 2 hours or until the dough doubles in bulk. (Or let the dough rise in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, remembering to bring it to room temperature before shaping it & letting it rise a second time.)
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured counter. Cut it into 2 equal pieces & shape each into a ball, making sure you don't press out all the air bubbles that have developed (leaving air bubbles intact ensures larger air holes once the bread is baked). Cover with a towel & let rest for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven with a baking stone in it to 475 degrees.
Pat 1 ball of dough into a flat 1-inch high rectangle measuring about 4 inches x 5 inches. Fold the side furthest from you over toward you & seal the seam using the heel of your hand. Turn the rectangle 180 degrees & fold the side furthest from you over toward you; seal the seam using the heel of your hand. Fold the resulting log in half lengthwise, sealing the edges with your fingertips. Roll into a 14-inch-long cylinder with slightly tapering ends. Repeat with the ball of dough. Cover with a towel & set aside to rise at room temperature for 30 minutes; the cylinders should increase by half their size.
Slash each cylinder diagonally at 3-inch intervals with a sharp knife or a razor blade. Sprinkle lightly with flour. Place on a baking peel that has been sprinkled with the cornmeal & dust with flour. Slide onto the baking stone.
Lower the oven temperature to 450 degrees. Bake the bread for 25 minutes or until it is golden brown & crisp, misting with water from a spray bottle 3 times during the first 10 minutes of baking. (Close the oven door quickly each time to prevent the steam/heat from escaping & the bread from deflating).
Cool the bread on a rack & serve at room temperature. Enjoy!!!

Enjoy!!!
Killed It, Yesterday
What a day!
John and Mike from Boston escaped the snow storm "Juno" and just wanted to catch fish. They didn't care what they caught, just as long as they fought hard.
Yesterday, we caught and released fish all day long. They were so excited that half way through the trip they booked me for this Friday too.
I love my job!
This was John's first cast of the day,
And I followed up right behind him, with Mike losing 2. This all happened in our first 5 minutes fishing.
But then Mike redeemed himself, and outdid us with a much larger fish,

The 2015 Canyon or Colorado in 4x4? Wazup?
Thinking of buying a GMC Canyon, but maybe waiting until Sept. or Oct.
Anyone got a GMC Canyon, or Chevy Colorado in the V6 4X4 and what do you think? Full size truck is not an option for me, but this might be just right for me. I test drove a Canyon and liked it.

Twin Engines?
I currently have twin 200 evinrudes on my 26ft stratos. I am in debate as to replace the lower units or bite the bullet and just buy new motors.
What is the significance of counter rotation verses standard rotation on the motors?
My motors are currently standard rotating and I don't seem to have any issues running.

New to the forum/fishing Galveston East bay
Hello everyone I am new to the forum! My name is Carson Deer and going to be fishing out of Tiki Island in Galveston coming this summer. I know East bay is the big hot spot in that area, but would love more suggestions on places to fish. Also want to know general information regarding fishing that area as well as safety precautions. Also, I'm about to turn 21 so looking to hammer the trout and reds this summer (with a cold one in hand). Any suggestions or information will be appreciated!
New Stuff Coming to Big Guy's Shooting Supplies
Got some Tite-Group 1 pounders in (not much), have HS-6 in stock along with some Varget 1 pound cans.
While I was at the SHOT Show, I hooked up with Top Brass direct and placed a sizable order. Have some 300 Blk brass coming, along with a bunch of pistol brass. Also went direct with Berry's Bullets. They have a new tumbler out that is really cool and affordable.
Working on an order with Extreme Bullets this week. Look for Extreme to come out with their own line of powder. I saw the containers. They are waiting on DOT approvals, etc.
Just placed an order for some Berger, Hornady and Sierra rifle bullets.
On the powder front. I spoke directly with Chris Hodgdon about the Clay's, Universal and International Clays powders. All he said was look forward to 2016. They are coming up with replacement powders for IMR 7625 (my favorite 20 ga powder) and PB in 2016. The GOOD news is that Winchester 296, H110 and 231 will be shipping withing 60-90 days according to Hodgdon's shipping manager.
Alliant on the other hand is going to dominate the canister powder market in 2015 IMO because they are caught up with OEM ammo production and are shipping powder within 3-4 weeks out to distributors.
Found out that Accurate Powder's supplier in Belgium actually blew up. That's why there is no 1680, #5, etc.
This was my first time at the SHOT Show and traveling to Vegas. Both were an experience!

Siding replacement
We were planning on selling our old house and moving somewhere else but the boss decided we didn't want to do that right now, so we're planning on doing some fixing. It has aluminum siding that is old and corroded, has puffy spots and small holes all over, so we're thinking about replacing it. We saw a house being built a few blocks away, and the siding being put on it looks like T111. Surely someone wouldn't be using that for exterior, would they? If it's not T111, what is it?
Maui Charter Recommendations
Going to Maui late summer. Has anyone fished there? Any charter recommendations? Anyone fished on the Hinatea?
Redneck Hooker
A redneck was walking home late at night and saw a woman in
the shadows.
''Twenty dollars' she whispers.
Bubba had never been with a hooker before,
but decides what the hell, it's only twenty bucks.
So they hide in the bushes.
They're 'engaged' for a minute when all of a
sudden a light flashes on them.
It is a police officer. 'What's going on here,
people?' asks the officer.
'I'm making love to my wife!,' Bubba answers
sounding annoyed.
'Oh, I'm sorry,' says the cop, 'I didn't know.'
'Well, neither did I, 'til ya shined that light in
her face!

Somerville 1/27
Somerville Lake is up about 3.75' above full pool. They opened the gates again on Monday and are currently running 1490 cfs thru the dam, so lake should drop about 3 inches a day. However, 90% rain for Saturday. Water temps were 48 degrees this morning, 7 degrees warmer than the air temp was.
Fish are scattered it seems with all the water washing food into the lake. Lake is still pretty clear in the main body of the lake, however, all creeks are muddy well out into the lake.
Today we spent time looking for crappie first. Found 8 keepers and 4 throw backs. Then at 9:30 we went catfishing and ended the morning with 25 nice cats to 5#.
I had a little of both for dinner tonight, yum yum.
No crappie were caught on jigs, even though I tried. All were on minnows today, under corks.
Cats were all on CJ's Crawdad punch bait, both tight line and under corks, in 8-10 foot water. Remember, 10 foot water is where you used to fish in 6 foot water.

EP Cat Prop Selection
Anyone owners out there have any prop suggestions for the el pescador cat? I am running a Yamaha 250 SHO on the back. No t-top or riser and I am only getting about 52-5300 RPMs. I believe I am currently running a 19 pitch turbo OS1. I heard of a lot of people running Bravos, any suggestion on pitch? Getting about 53-54 out of the 5200 rpms I am running.
Anyone know about sueing your county
I live on a dirt road that is getting worse and worse. When they do grade it, they do a horrible job. My fellow neighbors and i have called the commissioner and his excuse is no money in the budget, but yet roads around us are getting paved. That happen to be where his friends or companys that pay him off. So the question is, can a group or person sue the county for damages or something in order to make them pave the road? I am/have sent emails to the gov. Abbott, our mayor, ted cruz, kevin brady, and so on, even news media. We just need some help. Its in san jacinto county BTW.

Question on how far a deer can be processed in deer camp
TPWD says:
You are allowed to quarter a deer or antelope in camp, but tagging and proof-of-sex requirements continue to apply until the wildlife resource reaches a final destination.
Deer or antelope may not be processed beyond quarters in camp unless the camp qualifies as a final destination.
My question (and I have not found any definitive answer,.... can those quarters be de-boned in camp ? Or even de-boned at home before delivering that deer to a processor ?
Anyone out there ever ask that question to a warden ?

Washdown Pump installation
I have an Atwood Tsunami 800 gph dual port aerator and installing a Johnson Aqua Jet 5.2 gpm washdown pump. I am connecting the second port on the aerator (the one furthest from the motor head) to the washdown pump.
Questions needing answers:
1. Since the washdown pump is self-priming, does the inflow port on the washdown pump have to be mounted lower, or on the same level, than the aerator port feeding it? Or can the washdown pump be mounted higher than the aerator pump?
2. Since the Tsunami dual port aerator can alternatively be used to pump water to 2 livewells at the same time (using both ports to send water to the separate livewells), does the aerator pump have to be on in order for water to get to the washdown pump, (if one port is used to supply the baitwell and the other port is connected to the washdown pump)?
Thank you for your expert advice.

Close Encounters--Of The Whale Kind!
I took my Jet Ski out in the Atlantic on Sunday and trolled the Ocean front off of Virginia Beach for a couple of hours, still plenty of bait around but nobody is catching any inshore Striped Bass, my self included.
It was an awesome days for the wild life though, Humpback Whales, Seals and birds all over. Flat seas and a sunny day, unlike today windy and some snow coming down.
Ends up my friend Rob and his wife Mary were on a whale watching trip, they saw my jet ski in the distance and called me. I took some pictures of them and the tour boat. Perfect timing for me as a pair of Humpback Whales came up right beside the boat.
The whales also came right up to and under this boat that was out doing research.
This Humpback put on quite a show for me.
It breached several times, I barely got a picture.

WTB: Mid to high end electronics suite used
Looking for radar, plotter, bottom machine, autopilot in a networkable configuration so remote screens can be added. Doesn't have to be the latest and greatest but solid, compatible brands. Ideal would be a complete setup from a battlewagon upgrade. Pay fair price, cash on the barrelhead. Please PM any details, thanks Chuck
Sabine lake regulations
I am 66, so I do not need or have a LA license. If I launch in LA and have LA limit, will I be in violation of the law if I cross into or fish in Texas waters? What if I get checked in LA waters, and have LA limit, with a TX address, even if I launched in LA? The only documentation I have is my TX License. I would appreciate any info.
Somerville Cats?
I have never fished Somerville and would like to catch some nice cats. Any body have a good idea where to launch and fish. Don't want anybody's SSFH, just good area.

widgets/redirects and popups...
Last week I tried, unsuccessfully, to load a movie site to see American Sniper(www.ylfy.tv)
Was told to just close any popups or ads or misc to play the movie, etc...Well after about 15 min, I had a bunch of popups and worse was when I click a link or even a page on any site a window would popup....such as on 2cool, if I click a thread, instead a popup page for redirect/adzig or something like that...I had google chrome and it semed that that was infected, so I deleted it....Well, wrong..Even with Yahoo I get popups, but widgets or some ****...I even did a recovery to an earlier date and that seemed to help, but I can not open Google Chrome.(reloaded)...I click it and it does nothing...the little spinning circle spins for a few seconds and then is gone...Tried a lot of times
Yahoo is on, but I keep getting popups...I am at a loss....suggestions and kinda for a dummy

Freeport Offshore 1/24 Sat report - windy day, but fun
Headed out Saturday with low expectations...iffy forecast and fairly strong winds had me thinking we were going to be fishing the jetties.
Started out heading way west so that we could use the shore protection from the NW wind and then work back east with the waves.
Hit a few state water spots with little action, just finding small snapper and a shark.
Next headed SE from those spots toward the 504-A & -B platforms...both GONE.
Hit a few more spots out to the W27s and found lots of snapper high up in the water..makes it easy for catch & release.
Attachment 1964033
Had a few big ones hit on jumbo live baits at the AJ spot, but just couldn't hook up, and only got small AJ on jigs.
Wind history from GAA-424 platform...glad we weren't out there Sun afternoon.
