Marketing gimmicks in sporting goods

I just came from a trip to Academy and I had to laugh at some of the products that I saw. What's the deal with the giant survival knives? Do you really need a knife a foot long and for what? I've been in the wilderness for 56 years and can't think of a single time a knife of that size was needed. Then at the kayak accessories dept. they have "survival cord" which is a few feet of plain black bungee cord for 13 bucks! The fishing lure aisle had attack juice or some kinda **** named that. It seems as though pumping up your adrenaline is the marketing gimmick of the day. I've probably fell for some of that when I was younger, but this is just plain hokey. Now where did I put my "attack juice" in my tackle box......
