Went through the Brazoria NWR this morning.
Waterfowl numbers continue to be substandard on the units near FM 2004 and on the county roads.
Fairly good numbers of duck on three of their fields but all of the other units had only a few that I could see through the binoculars.
Maybe 100 cranes. And there were almost no geese. Saw 2 flocks fly over. Combined not over 60 birds.
Saw nothing else on FM 2004.
Then drove to San Bernard NWR and over to the Wolfweed Unit where there is a public viewing platform
Saw nothing on the way there even on the prison farm south of Brazoria.
Wolfweed Unit looked good but there was only 20 ducks that I could see. It is about 500 acres so there could be lots of birds somewhere on it but I didn't see any flying around either. Far more coots than ducks.
Driving back up Highway 60 I only saw some scattered groups of cranes up to 100 birds at the most.
Very lackluster.
