Supermoon = Super Flounder Fishing

The quantity of flounder in the Galveston Bay complex right now is ridiculous. Best bite for me has been occurring from dawn to about 10:00 AM during morning incoming tides that slack up around noon.

The primary areas I’m fishing include pier structures in water depths ranging from 3-7 feet. Most of the strikes have been directly along the structure or between pilings. The most productive areas all have mud bottom with patches of scattered shell around the pilings. As the sun gets higher in the sky, fishing has been very productive along the edges of the shadows from the structure.

My go-to lure has been Gulp mantis shrimp in pearl/chartreuse during the early morning hours and then I switch over later in the morning to a larger 7" Gulp Jerk Shad in chartreuse once the shad and finger mullet start forming giant schools.
