I initially inquired about a water softner to this company. My FIL used them years ago to have the same system installed at his house, so they came highly recommended. We had a couple of other companies show up at our door to sell us their system as well.
What I liked about the guy who came out to give us a bid is they took a sample of our water and told us exactly how bad it was. They didn't try to exaggerate the severity of our water nor try to push any sales on us. In fact, they took their time and explained everything in detail.
I have to tell you we are very pleased with the results even only after 2 days. We have lived with hard water for 12 years. We had hard water in our old house. I had replaced all the old galvanized pipe in the old house, but even the new CPVC pipe turned orange inside due to the dirty water coming in from the MUD district. Even though we are in a new neighborhood now, the water is still bad in my opinion. We recently had a water fitting leak in the attic. The plumber who come out to repair it under warranty told us that the pipes were alreayd discolored. We have only lived here for 6 months. We also have a slight orange ring in the toilet where the water is staining the toilet, so we knew we had to do something.
We could immediately tell the difference with the new system. We also had a Reverse Osmosis system installed under the kitchen sink. The fridge is connected to it as well so the water dispenser on it will put out water that is better than bottled water.
This is the system we went with:
Here, my main is underground before the AC's. They trenched around to the backside of the AC's to hide it a bit. You can't even tell they had this all dug up.
And here is the system itself, very well done.
