Getting rid of the bug man

Been paying a bug man $78 every 3 months to keep my house bug free. Now I'm looking at cutting some costs. Am I wasting money on using this guy? Seems like he is only at the house for about 20 min. He sprays the baseboards inside and the perimeter of the house and puts some stuff up in the attic. Can I go to the hardware store and get similar products for a ton less money? Any suggestion on products to use?
