Venice La next week

Well the wife and myself will be with out kids next week, she wants to go surf / pier fishing. I am planning on taking our first trip to Venice La



My question is how is the surf fishing in that area this time of year?

any suggestions where to go?



I would take her out on a guided trip but its really not her thing (she does not like spending 700+ just to go hammer specs or red fish)

She loves to fish in areas where she never knows what she will pull in then look up the fish to see what it is.



Any help would be great.
