Penn Battle Reel/Tica Rod

Looking to get a Penn Battle 5000 Spinning Reel and a Tica 9 foot medium heavy (2-6 0z. rated )



Anyone here have any thoughts on the Penn Battle reels. I have friends that really like the Tica surf rods.
