Fished some remote back bayou areas off of bastrop this eve for a couples hours. Threw a roach/chart tail hogie on 1/4 oz jig head in 1-3 ft of water. New i had made the right choice at 1st stop when i shut down and was surrounded by mud boils. Blind casted and casted to wakes or nervous bait at a moderate retrieve. Nothing fancy just chunk (long casts) and wind. The reds were pretty active and I ended up catching 10-12 from 16-22 inches; all released. Caught 1 bonus flounder which of course went in the cooler. Mosqitos were out in force as usual and I was sure glad I had some off stashed. Headed back to the main bayou earlier than i wanted due to fog. I have no desire to be back in an aqatic maze when it rolls in thicker than pea soup. Overall not a bad trip...minus the skeeters and fog.
