Fayette County 12/12

Today I had Ray and Mike out on Fayette County for a morning of fun. Ray wanted Mike to catch a good fish, while Mike is visiting from Idaho. Overcast, 55 degrees, nice morning. The fish agreed and the bite started quickly. We moved around 3-4 times to locate fish, but found fish at all places.

We had personal bests galore on the boat today. Mike got his personal best catfish at 9.25#. And, he landed it at the same time Ray was landing his personal best at 11.25#. A picture of two personal best and over 20# of fish in the photo, not an everyday occurrence. Then the most fish Ray had caught at Fayette with me was 36, which was eclipsed when we finished the morning with 50 cats.

There were two 11#ers, multiple 7-9#ers, and only 10 fish that might have gone under 4#. So at a 5# average, their coolers held about 250# of fish. An excellent morning, especially with Fayette cat population down from prior years.

The fish were responding to the chum, I used sour wheat. They are starting to get eggs in them, for their April spawn. Lake seemed about 6" higher than previous trip.

All fish caught on CJ's Crawdad punch bait, under corks, in 6-10' water.
