End the of year trip
I was in Texas heading home and had a call for an inshore trip. Before I got home it turned into an offshore trip. Had to search very hard to find a last minute deck hand. Had a flat tire at 5:00 in the morning 3 miles from the marina. Got there and deck hand and customers were a bit behind. The winds were calm at 5:00 but they were blowing at 17 mph where I was heading. Forecast was for a front to come through in the afternoon but conditions looked like the front was here early. This whole trip was not starting off good. We ran into a bit of fog at the head of passes but not thick. As soon as we hit the gulf it was bouncy. About 6 miles out we were doing 24 mph. Eased my way to my furthest destination. Made one troll around a rig on the way and nothing impressive on the screen so kept going. Almost too rough to troll. Took a one over the bow of the Glacier Bay.
One of my buddies was already at at my chosen rig. He got nothing on the troll but one blackfin on the chunk. We went right to chunking. Marked nothing on the drifts but under these conditions I had no other choices. A third boat shows up and he gets a Jack Crevalle on his first drift. The first boat there leaves. After 6 sharks I gave up on that place. Went to a nearby rig heading in. Trolled it and on the second pass get one on. It fought like a blackfin but turned out to be a Jack.
To be continued. Got called for a trip.
I thought this was going to be my last trip of the year but an early morning call had me stop writing and back on the water again. This is the rest of yesterdays trip.
Got a call from the place I just left and he said the bite may be starting. I took a pounding but headed back out there. I got a small piece of red meat from him and set up a drift. First drift and we have a tuna on. It did not fight like a shark at all. I was soon putting the gaff in a good sized blackfin tuna. We were on the board at last. In this picture you can see how the line rubbed him as he was diving to get away.
I thought things were looking up but it took about an hour before we had another bite. This one was also a blackfin. We were almost out of red meat bait when my deckhand lands a bonito about a foot long. I was able to make 4 small baits out of it. We had 3 blackfin in the box and we had 2 baits left. "One last drift". Win, loose or draw we are done. Time to get out of these rough seas. One of the lines goes off with a rod bending, drag burning run. This looks like a good yellowfin. The woman came on the boat with a bad back but so far today she landed every fish. We gave this to her husband. When it made the second run he tagged out. She jumped on it but her back was done and she had to tag out also. I let the deckhand finish it. He loved the chance to fight a yellowfin.
It was not a monster but just big enough to put smiles on everybody's face. In a win, loose, or draw situation; we won.
Once we get the fish iced down well we get things on the boat ready for the run into state waters. Fortunately I had a good angle on the seas so we had a (fairly) good run back. When I got in state waters the winds and waves were still nasty and we had a tough time hooking up to the rig. Our first bait in the water gets hit right away and we are 3 fish from finishing the day.
By this time I have a second line set up and we drop 2 down at once. Both lines get hit instantly. The first one comes in with a fight an we have another good red snapper but the third fish is fighting a lot harder. It is not unusual for blackfin to be caught here in the winter so that was what I was thinking. When it came to the top I was surprised. Our double was a keeper and a throw back. Although legal size Amberjack does not open till January 1st.
After a photo op it went back. Our third red snapper came on the next drop and our fourth was on at the same time but broke off. 3 drops and almost limited out on red snapper. We fed a few and lost some in the rig. Our last one was being difficult. As soon as we got our limit we were all ready to head in. The winds were still honking and the temp had dropped 15 to 20 degrees or it at least it felt like that.
Ended up a good day. 3 boats went offshore and I had the best catch. Unfortunately Eddie came in with the only wahoo so I did not fair well there but I brought in the only yellowfin of the day and that made up for it. Nice way to finish the season.
Happy New Year to all!

300 Blackout brass life expectancy
I just got 200 pieces of brass from PSA. These are converted from military 5.56 cases. I'll be pretty busy this spring but would expect to make 2 or 3 long weekends. Not looking for a guided hunt or day hunts but would like to lease something outright or join a group. I would also be happy to take you on your land if you would like. I can offer cash or swap alligator hunts in SC. Thanks

Which 300 Mercury?
Guys I'm gonna be upgrading to 24ft bay boat in the next few months. I'm set on my boat choice just can't decide on the power . I'm gonna run Mercury but can't decide between 300xs or 300 verado. Boats gonna be a blazer bay 2420 gts I guide about 6 months a year right now depending on work schedule. I guess my main concern is reliability other than cost and weight of verado is one more reliable than the other?Any first hand experience with either engine?

Builders decals. .
I'm looking for info on who yall use for builders name or logo decals?
There's some info out there, and mudhole is an option too.
just looking for something simple, printing myself would be cool
but that doesn't sound very successful without the right gear. .
I have been writing on some rods but that isn't working that well. .

I got a couple of cases in today. $17.80/box of 325 rounds. Limited to to 2 boxes per person.
Garmin GPSMap 540 for parts
Actually, the unit works great, and is in extremely good shape. It's the back light that isn't working. If you know how to fix the back light, you can get a bargain. If you need parts, everything on this one is good except the light. I took it out of the boat after every trip and cleaned it, so it's really in great shape.
Asking $100 - it appears that parts units sell for well north of that on Ebay. I've got an extra swivel mount that is included.
I've also got an external antenna that never took a boat ride, so it's like brand new, that I'll sell for $25.

If you havnt tried yet and you like that kinda stuff it goes great with any seafood dish or even a chicken dish.:brew2:

Ndamukong Suh's one week suspension for stepping on Aaron Rodgers ' ankle could be reduced to a fine upon appeal, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora . Suh appealed the decision Tuesday.
http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/12/...n-rodgers-step
The league's punishment will be a joke if Sue is allowed to play.
The suspension was imposed by NFL Vice President of Football Operations MERTON HANKS. Hanks ruled that Suh engaged in a non-football act which placed his opponent, Rodgers, at unnecessary risk of injury – specifically the second step and push off, which could have been avoided.
So now if he plays. putting other players at risk (intent to maim) with a non-football act can be bought off? I'm sure the Packer's stockholders will be willing to pay the fine for the player who takes out Sue's knee.

Christmas Vacation?
Too many folks got their feelings hurt that we didn't show up to their house over the Christmas Holiday, so my wife and I decided to take off next year with my son, daughter and her family, sisters and brothers with their families and go on a vacation somewhere. I would like to go where I can either spend some time hunting or fishing while gone, since that is a big part of why I didn't go visit other families. Do any of you do this? Where do you go and what kind of activities do you enjoy while there? Thanks in advance,

Automated Alert to Wife, friend, brother .. if you call 911
For some time, I've been getting these IFTT ( If this, then that) notices. I don't know where or when I signed up for them. However, they have some interesting uses.
The one I received today was created by a volunteer. It's proposed "action" is.......if you were to call 911, then a text would be sent to another person automatically.
In my case, I set it up so if I used my cell phone to call 911, my daughter, who is the relative who is physically nearest to us, would receive a text that her parents had called 911, and that she might want to check on us to see what is going on.
I'm thinking that a boater, who had to call 911, would ALSO like to have someone alerted automatically if they were in distress.
Anyhow, here is the LINK to the IFTT regards, richg99

Grilled Bananas
Did this last night as a request and I was rewarded for my efforts. :an4:
Take 4 ripe bananas - slice longways in half (leave peel on)
1 shot - Jamieson Whiskey
1 shot - honey
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon brown sugar
Combine everything except the bananas in a small bowl and set aside.
Put the bananas on the grill - peel side up - for 3 min.
Flip the bananas and cover with honey mix.
Let cook another 5-7 min, until bananas are tender.
Serve hot over vanilla bluebell.

Hollywood helping start a civil war
My brother went to see Unbroken, and sat through a bunch of previews as usual.Selma preview came on and pizzed him off so bad,it ruined the main movie for him.He said they trashed white people so bad,it can't do nothing but make Ferguson look like a Sunday picnic. He almost walked out before the feature film started.I've never seen him so mule-lipped over anything as silly as a movie trailer. He's worried about the trouble it's going to stir up.

Wow..... The Big 12 is looking really, really carppy.
I bleed Green and Gold, and have for 45 years. I'm one of a long line of Baylor grads, and I always root for my team and my conference.
I was pizzed when both Baylor and TCU were left out of the inaugural CF Playoff. I just didn't think for a second that our conference was the worst of the Power 5.
But after our showing as a conference today, I may have to give the selection committee some credit.
Happy Holidays, God Bless and Sic'em Bears!

Been buying red oak from a guy for a few years and now can't get ahold of him. Thinking he went out of business. Any reputable firewood guys in Lake Jackson/Brazoria county area?
Ruger American Rifle 300 Blackout?
Does anyone have any experience with this rifle or caliber? I hear it's a good caliber out to around 150 yards then it falls out in punch!
Would you take Jaimis Winston?
Well, Texans fan, we're officially done and the 2015 Top 20 draft order is set. We will be picking at #16. I don't think McNair will give up the farm & ranch to get Mariota at #1.....So, IF ( and that's a big IF ) Winston were to drop in our lap at 16, would you take a chance on him? Call me crazy, but I would. He may be a knucklehead, but he's a winner!

Ephesians 4:17-24
17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Dog lovers input sought
I'd like to get myself a dog as a companion. I'd prefer a medium sized, low/no shedding, mild mannered ( no yapping, no wild energy level) I'm not a huge fan of chihuahua or daschunds but I'm sure they're great dogs. I'd love to have a smart dog. I plan to keep the dog inside but I do have a nice , fenced yard.
Suggestions from the dog lovers would be appreciated ?

Still Trying
I have been out Striped Bass Fishing in the Chesapeake Bay a couple times this week. Once on a friends charter with Capt. Herb Gordon on the "Pretty Work" and a couple times on my Jet Ski. Overall a slow bay season but I did catch a couple decent ones. No fish for me the last couple trips but I will try in the Bay one more time then I will be out chasing them in the Atlantic. I had my 50th birthday, my 15th wedding and of course Christmas this last week, been real fun and busy. I got a new Nikon D5300 and a 150-600mm telephoto lens. I am looking forward to another great year on the water. Here are a couple pictures from this last week.

Cabo San Lucas Fishing Report and Baja

Happy New Year to All!!!Thanks Everyone!!
Striped Marlin Fishing Back on Track!!
Tuna Few and Far Between!!!
Dorado Hot!!!!
Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.
WEATHER: The weather is looking pretty nice with cooler temperatures in the early mornings and evenings. Still the weather is great with highs in the low 80,s and lows from 59 to 63 degrees. What great weather we are having and it seems the heat has left us for a bit and we are starting to get the typical December weather. Its still great however you look at it!!
WATER: Now we are seeing the water start to cool all over Lands End both on the Pacific side and Sea of Cortez. I do notice a big shift in the water temperatures according to tempbreak compared to last week where we had lots of 80 to 81 degree water even on the Pacific side. What I am noticing that’s its starting to look much more normal and how water temperatures should be this time of year and that is still good news as this will enhance Striped Marlin, Sierra and Yellowtail fishing over the next 2 weeks. This link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja. http://www.tempbreak.com/index.php?&cwregion=cb
BILLFISH: Marlin fishing has gotton a lot better over this past week as we really had a down week last week. The thing is we are still running a long way to get to them. Most of the fish are up in and around the Golden Gate and about a 22 to 26 mile run to get to them and they seem to be hitting lures and live bait.
DORADO: Still really good!!!! The fish being landed are not only in abundance but they are also good size Dorado!!! Most are 25lb to 40lb and the hot areas are Rancho Migrino working the fish tight to the beach on lures, cut bait and ballyhoo. Lots of big fish being landed but I am not sure how much longer this will last as in some areas the water is cooling down and turning greenish color but due south west off the point and Lands End the water is really warm.
WAHOO: Still pretty good Wahoo action!! Most on rapalas and jet heads and not real big fish being caught as most are 12lb to 25lbs.
TUNA: The Tuna seem to be showing up outside of San Jamie Banks about 22 miles out and some of fish running with the Porpoise with lots of Tuna being caught via blind strike with weights in the 12lb to 30lb range. Cedar plugs and king busters are working well in landing the Tuna. Its that time of year where we don’t know when and where we are going to run into the Tuna action.!!!
INSHORE: The fishing inshore is still pretty good as we speak from the Solmar to the Light House has been productive with Sierra, Roosters, Dorado and a few Wahoo being landed within a mile of the beach. Its cool we are starting to see the Sierra arrive and next Yellowtail will start to show but lets jst hope it is better than last year for the Yellowtail. Mean while if you like the inshore action your in luck because it has been good and I expect it to stay decent through the next week and then into January with Sierra action and Yellowtail.
From The Admirals Kitchen is Open Again!!
Fresh Yellowtail Fillet with Lime and Ginger!!!!
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Season the yellowtail with salt and pepper, to taste. Preheat a nonstick, ovenproof skillet, coated with the olive oil. Add the yellowtail, flesh side down, and cook until brown, about 2 or 3 minutes. Turn the fish over and put the skillet into the oven for 5 minutes.
Remove the skillet from the oven and transfer the fish to a warm platter. Pour any excess oil from the pan. Add the green onions, tomato, citrus zest and ginger and saute, over low heat, for 1 to 2 minutes. Add the wine and deglaze the skillet. Reduce the liquid by half, and then add the heavy cream. Reduce until lightly thickened. Whisk in the butter, lime juice and parsley. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Spoon the sauce over the fish and serve.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds skinless yellowtail fillet, cut in 4 equal pieces
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons diced green onions
2 tablespoons diced tomatoes
2 tablespoons blanched julienne cut citrus zests (any combination, lime, lemon, orange, grapefruit and yuzu)
2 tablespoons julienne cut ginger
3 ounces red wine
4 to 6 ounces heavy cream
2 ounces unsalted butter
1 to 2 ounces fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon chopped parsley leaves
Yellowtail Info!!
The yellowtail amberjack or great amberjack, Seriola lalandi, buri or hiramasa[1] is a large fish found in the Pacific and Indian oceans. It can be divided into three subspecies:
• The California yellowtail, Seriola lalandi dorsalis
• The California yellowtail is a species of ray-finned fish of the family Carangidae. This species is also known by several alternate names, such as amberjack, forktail, mossback, and white salmon [3] or by its Spanish name jurel.
• Diet
• The California yellowtail is carnivorous and feeds on a variety of fish. Mackerel, sardines, anchovies, squid, crab, and smelts are common in the yellowtail's diet.[4] Often, California yellowtail are found in schools feeding at the surface of the water, as well as deeper. This species prefers water temperatures of 21–22 °C (70–72 °F), though have also been found in waters between 18 and 24 °C (64 and 75 °F).[5] Temperatures cooler than 18 °C would make the yellowtail sink into deeper waters to conserve energy.
• Range and habitat
• The yellowtail's range is circumglobal, in subtropical waters. It can be found near Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, and Santa Monica Bay, as well as in Mexican waters such as Baja California Peninsula and Sea of Cortes, congregating at certain areas in mass numbers like Cedros Island and Benitos Island. During the summer they can also be found in association with floating kelp paddies off the coast of southern California and Baja California. Yellowtail populations have also been found in waters off South Africa, the Walter Shoals, Amsterdam Island, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Hawaii, Rapa, Pitcairn Island, Jeju Island, and Easter Island. In the Eastern Pacific, they can be found in waters off British Columbia, as well as from Canada to Chile.[6] They are usually found around offshore islands, rocky reefs, and kelp beds.[3] They are also found in increasing numbers off the Islands of the Tristan Da Cunha archipelago in the South Atlantic. They are frequently caught on the 3 northern Islands of Tristan Da Cunha, Nightingale and Inaccessible and were recently reported by Factory Manager Erik Mac Kenzie at Gough Island at 40 deg South which is 200 miles south of the other Islands. Fish in the size range 25 to 40 kg are not uncommon and are caught both from boats and the shore.
• Conservation status
• The yellowtail was more common in waters around California and Mexico, but has recently been overfished by Japanese commercial fishing ships. Overfishing is becoming more of a problem as fishers move away from areas in which this fish has become scarce to United States' waters in search of more. Yellowtail spawn in warm waters 100–300 miles off the California coast and return in May or June until September or December. They spawn slowly, but may live in excess of 30 years[citation needed]. Spawning usually begins at three years of age. One major spawning ground is at Cedros Island, where mass amounts of 15- to 20-pound yellowtail can be caught. Yellowtail are aggressive towards other fish. They will often feed more frequently during spawning, which makes them an easy target for commercial fishing boats. They are currently not on the endangered list.
BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://www.jcsportfishing.comhttp://...be/tSXN6pifQyQ

Anyone else having a tough yr? llano co.
Very slow at our place between llano and mason. We have hunted 7 days (2 diff trips) over the last two weeks and only seen deer on 2 hunts. The hunt we made before thanksgiving, the only deer we seen were bucks chasing does , no where near the feeders and you really had to be watching to even catch a glimpse. Since nov 25, we only have deer on cam during shooting time a handful of times. Corn growing under all feeders, and the ranch is the greenest I have ever seen it this time of year. Talked to a couple other land owners and they are experiencing the same thing.

I built a webpage for local river and lake water levels and info
I have been frustrated with searching through all of the different government websites trying to get information about the local river and lake water levels and dam discharges. So as a result I have built a website that gathers all of this data in real time and presents it in one place.
http://texasriverdata.com
It's still pretty basic at the moment but I am still working on it. In addition to seeing the graphs, you can also upload a fishing or hunting report and it will be posted on the website to share with other folks and help them see what's working well to catch fish. This has been fun to set up, but I think I might have lost a few brain cells in the process!:mpd:

Matthew 24:3-14
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Goodbye Midway, Hello Greak's!!
After a couple of disappointing experiences with Midway in Katy, I tried out Greak's in Alvin.
All I can say is WOW. I picked up my cooler full of sausage and backstrap, and brought it home this morning, and threw two links on the grille. Simply amazing.
The people were super nice, turnaround was 6 days, and the sausage is beyond anything we've ever had.
If you get a chance, try out Greak's, located at Froberg Farms. You will not be disappointed!!
...and you'll get all of YOUR meat back....not that, well, anyplace else wouldn't......

I have current versions of Avast and Malwearbytes on my pic (not this one). I receive blocked page notifications from Avast on every page I open. All pages that are blocked are known bad boys on Google.

I just got the new HDS7 including the structure scan transducer. My question is do I need the structure scan module as well? Or do I just plug the transducer into the unit?

Brazoria County Waterfowl Report
Went through the Brazoria NWR this morning.
Waterfowl numbers continue to be substandard on the units near FM 2004 and on the county roads.
Fairly good numbers of duck on three of their fields but all of the other units had only a few that I could see through the binoculars.
Maybe 100 cranes. And there were almost no geese. Saw 2 flocks fly over. Combined not over 60 birds.
Saw nothing else on FM 2004.
Then drove to San Bernard NWR and over to the Wolfweed Unit where there is a public viewing platform
Saw nothing on the way there even on the prison farm south of Brazoria.
Wolfweed Unit looked good but there was only 20 ducks that I could see. It is about 500 acres so there could be lots of birds somewhere on it but I didn't see any flying around either. Far more coots than ducks.
Driving back up Highway 60 I only saw some scattered groups of cranes up to 100 birds at the most.
Very lackluster.

Bait on Sommie???
Finished a job bout 8:30, wind not to bad at 10 mph so Shorty the beagle and I headed to Sommie.. Bout 6 crappie boaters anchored and a full marina of poles, we worked for shad to drift. Up to last week 1 cast and 500 shad, this morn just reversed but finally managed bout a dozen smallies for the drift. After losing one we landed 3 blues all same size of 5 1/2 lbs. After 1 1/2hrs, heavy but short showers moved in, wind picked up so not finding anyone at ramp all were released, still enjoyable for trip #91, All you 2 cooler guys have a safe New Years

'Ol Johnny better get it together
Heard on the radio today that if Cleveland were to cut Johnny they'd only get a $3mil hit.
While $3mil is a good chunk of change, it's just that by NFL standards.
I'm betting we'll be seeing a lot less of Johnny on TMZ and hearing more of him being the new choir boy and studying daily.

What is this truck worth
I just bought a 2008 f150 xlt super crew cab with the 5.4 triton motor. Texas edition, whatever that means. The owner passed away a couple months ago and I got it from his widow. The proverbially little old lady. New michelins all around and receipts show it was serviced by ford every 5000 miles. Other than a very minor scratch on the bed that is about a foot long it looks like it just came off the showroom floor. 18000 miles and I gave $10000 for it. Was this as good a deal as I think it was?

question on code for depth of trench for buried wire

Goose Killer turned Goose Scarer
Last year I bagged a bunch of geese, but this year I can't even shoot the ground. I tried experimenting with my lead and even changed ammo twice. Any tips or tricks to get this under control? I use a mod choke.
7dmkii
I went and did it the other day. Plunked down a couple of grand for a 7DMKII. After reading the review on them for astro use it was a no brainer. Haven't gotten to test it out yet. I was in Houston the past week and the weather was nasty the whole time. Looks like I might be able to test it out on the astro rig tonight and tomorrow night. Its been almost 3 weeks since the telescope computer came in and its been cloudy since. Ran into a glitch on my encoder. Having to go away from the trim tape on the EM-2 sensor. Its just too sensitive to being moved around. The cable would tilt the sensor affixed with trim tape enough so the wheel would get too close to the sensor and error out. Having my nephew drill some holes so I can mount it properly with a couple of bolts. I ordered the other axis the other day. Going to set up an autoguider so I can do some narrow band work. They require much longer integrations and a mount needs correcting when you are going for 20+ minutes. The stars will get too big otherwise. So I'm adding the other axis a dual saddle plate 60mm refractor and a self contained guider from Italy. I'm trying to eliminate the notebook from the set-up so I wanted a guider that didn't require it to function. Managed to brick the first router I tried to modify. A dumb mistake on my part. They aren't that expensive so its not a big loss just time waiting for another one to show up. Looked in several stores in H-Town when I was there last week but nobody had them in stock. The review of the MKII for astro use had a couple of stunning pics taken with the 7D. No darks flats or bias frames the noise just isn't there. Better red response as well. So no need to peel the ir filter off either. Although I might end up getting the 7D modded if I don't sell it. Don't really need two bodies. I'd rather have another lens a wide angle fast one.

Political joke
According to rumor, this is a transcript of an actual interview between a female broadcaster and an Army General who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation. I assume it is just an urban legend, but one certainly can imagine such an interview taking place.
INTERVIEWER: “ So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?”
GENERAL REINWALD: ‘We’re going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.”
INTERVIEWER: “Shooting! That’s a bit irresponsible, isn’t it?”
GENERAL REINWALD: “I don’t see why, they’ll be properly supervised on the rifle range.”
INTERVIEWER: “Don’t you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?”
GENERAL REINWALD: “I don’t see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle range discipline before they even touch a firearm.”
INTERVIEWER: “ But you’re equipping them to become violent killers.”
GENERAL REINWALD: “Well, you’re equipped to be a prostitute, but you’re not one, are you?”
The radio went silent and the interview ended.

Donate $ to the Kurds? A question 4 2cool
Tis the season of giving...and I would like to make a donation...to the only people that I can tell who are really making a serious effort to wipe this DISEASE called ISIS off the face of the earth.
Does anyone know how I can get some of my hard earned money to the Kurds / Yazidis currently balling out against these animals? I would want to make sure my money doesn't end up in the hands of some corrupt representative of the "religion of peace" who will funnel it to someone other than the Kurds (yes I realize most Kurds are Muslims...but near as I can tell, they are the only Muslims that we can trust to fight the good fight)
I am sorry for perhaps crossing the line into "political" here on the main board...I haven't been on 2cool in ages...but it's probably the largest blog I have ever participated in...so thought I would ask. I am just absolutely sick of reading about the sub-human scum that has accumulated in this "caliphate"...and I honestly don't know what else I can do short of flying over with my guns and joining the fight...just not a reality for most of us...but here is what I do know - these dogs are concentrating themselves, and if we sit passively, they WILL get to us over here via another terrorist attack, or more likely attacks. The Kurds have been as reliable and stable a people as exist in sand land...and I would much rather support them than the people's of Afghanistan, the Iraqis, or anyone else.
So - any reliable way to contribute some $ to their cause?
PS - before anyone suggests it, until we have boots on the ground (and not even sure that's the right thing), I don't feel my $ will have as much impact if given to a cause that supports our troops, heroes that they are.
Thanks in advance!

My new used boat !!!!!!
My son and I bought this 42ft. Boat from a guy in Louisiana in May and discovered that it had more problems than we noticed when we where taking it for a test ride in what turned out to be pouring down rain. but we where enjoying being able to get inside of the cabin of the boat instead of having to just tough it out with a T-top style boat like we've always had so we didn't look it over as well as we should have but I was a little blinded by the twins. but the real value of the Boat was the twin 300 Yams which have almost no hours on them and run Beautifully. so I pay the guy cash for the boat and haul it from Baton Rouge to Port A in pouring down rain. fun fun fun!!! So first thing out of the gate we haul out to Baker the ride was great!! really smooth and dry:)!!!that's when we realized that the live wells not only didn't work but they wouldn't even hold water without leaking into the hull of the boat!! So we determined what all need to be fixed and redone hauled it up to Austin and have spent the last 6mos. refurbishing it( I have my own machine shop). I put in a New generator re-did the whole back end of the boat where the live wells where I had a custom 70 gal. live well built and some custom tackle boxes made with plenty of space for tackle I ran blue lighting throughout the boat Blue underwater lights as well as a light bar that lights it up like Day light when it's on, a 6 man life raft and a EPRB system.
We've got a lot of other things we want to do to customize our boat but I've spent a wad of cash getting it where it's at and my beautiful little Wife as patient as she's been is starting to give me the evil eye. So me being the well trained Husband I am knows when it's time to just shut up and go fishing!!!
We're excited about getting her out! Thinking about naming it the Gladiator in reference to the Sword fish the gladiator of the sea.

Word for today, Tuesday, December 23, 2014
Romans 10:1-13
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Question on squeling brakes
Do not where to post this so here I go, I have a 2003 Cady CTS that the brakes are squeling on, the car only has 39,458 miles on it. Usually brakes only squeal when the pads are worn badly, I have not pulled the wheels off yet due to the low mileage. The rotors look right and no lip on the outer edge. My truck has 90,000 miles and have just replaced the pads, that is what is puzzeling me-should a gently driven cady need new pads at this low amount miles. There is no rust on the rotors as the auto is garage kept since new. Any help is greatly appreciated

Question about refinery jobs
Possibly looking at a career move down the road. Something away from sales. Curious if anyone has switched from a non-related field of work to a refinery/Oil & gas job without starting as a grunt? If so what position and what was the pay like? I'd be switching from about 5 years of sales experience. College degree. No engineering experience or knowledge other than what I've learned from buddies.

NFL Playoff Tool
For you guys interested in determining how the Texans can make the playoffs and/or how the playoff seeding will take place based on week 17 outcomes. This is a pretty neat tool.
In essence, the Texans need a win and they need the Ravens and Chargers to both lose to get in.
The best the Cowboys can do is a #2 seed and they'll need a win on Sunday and loses from Seattle and Arizona, otherwise they have the #3 seed locked up.

Counter sink bits and bolts?
I am wanting to cover bunks on my trailer with 1/2" poly strips. I'm not so much of a do it your selfer, but I think I can do this one. I would like to know about counter sink drill bits and whether screws or through bolts would be the best way to secure the Poly Planks to the bunks.
Please let me know exact bolt/screw sizes with corresponding bit sizes you all would suggest. The bunks are 2x4 on flat sides not edges. I think I'd prefer to through bolt unless the consensus here says otherwise.
Thanks for your suggestions. Hope this is the right place to get expert advise for this.

M.I C. Problems
My bought a new star for the tree, battery operated, cute red LEDs, Made In China. It has developed a mind of its own and comes on and off no matter where the switch is set. She was having a hissy fit because it was not working the way SHE wanted it to. She asked me why it was like that I told her M.I.C. when she asked what that means I told her, it didn't help.......Any else having M.I.C. problems right now?

Torquemaster lower unit on an Evinrude H.O
Ok so Iv got a 2014 evinrude etec 200 ho with the m2 gear case and although it does have the dual water pickup as soon as the upper pickup break the surface water pressure falls off Iv changed out pick ups and everything and still can't get the motor up where I want it to be when running shallow... So my question is how hard would it be to stick a torquemaster lower unit on an etec? Not only do they have a better gear ratio than the m2 but also more durable and have a true low water pickup.
Introducing..."The Goddess".....
Got a habit of naming my guns, boat, fishing sticks, etc...and thought "The Goddess" fits this shiv perfectly.. Beautiful...Functions perfectly...but DEADLY !!!!...just like our own 2cool "Goddess".... Write-up says it is not classified as a 'switch blade'...but it sure works like one.. Does have a 'safety' button on it so it don't open in your pant's pocket and give you a 'surprise'....:)
Saw it on another 2cool post a couple of days ago..... Amazon...regular $80+...on special for $22...with free one day shipping... Just got delivered this AM..but I notice price on Amazon has gone up to $40+ today... Guess I did really get a bargain...:)
