what should i bring to Corpus Christi beach front ?

My family is about heading to Corpus Christi on Labor day. While they enjoy the beach, I will take some fishing action. But the question is what should i expect to bring to fish on the beach front (Lure, Bait?)? I want to keep it simple as we travel in long distance from Houston.
