Fluorocarbon vs Mono offshore trolling leaders. What to use???

Have to ask all offshore anglers, what is best to use for trolling leaders fluorocarbon or mono? I have been using 200 and 300 lb mono. Caught a nice wahoo but the leader was chewed pretty bad. Lucky I even landed him. Thinking about putting wire leaders in front of my trolling baits then running clear leader of 80lbs. I heard good and bad of both mono and fluro. What is your openion???
