Any IBS or Crohn's Sufferer's??

Good Morning 2Cool,

I stopped by one of my best friends house last night after work to see if he wanted to go eat dinner or something and he said, "OK but it has to be some where close to his house!!" I said that was fine and thought nothing of it so we got to a nearby restaurant and thats when he told me that the past couple years, he's been having digestive problems which is why he doesnt go out much anymore and if he does, it has to be close to his house. Then it hit me why he hasnt gone to many of our gatherings and parties lately. I thought he was getting too old. He said that now when he eats, he usually has to go right after. He said he's been to a gastroenterologist and they did some test and a colonoscopy and they said he was fine and told him to get on a daily regiment of probiotics everyday and take Mylanta for the bloating he gets. The probiotics help some what so he's been on it but he says some days its even worse. He gets upset he cant control it and says some days he even breaks down and cries. He was always a normal guy before and he said this only started happening withing the past few years. We use to go fishing all the time but he says he hasnt been going because he's nowhere near a restroom.

After dinner I took him back to his house and he managed to chat for about 10 minutes and he had to go so I just went home. I got home and started doing some research and I found out that stress is a big cause of a lot of things and seems like he shows signs of either IBS or Crohn's. I'm kinda glad that I did find out that stress cause's the good bacteria in you digestive system to die and screw up your digestive system cause both him and I have pretty high stress jobs and to know that stress does that, I hate to think that I might go through what he's going through as well one day. My doctor has always told me my high blood pressure was caused by stress so I've been taking Lisinopril everyday and its gone down and he told me to find away to relieve the stress. But thats hard to do in mine and his position. We're both in our mid 30's and getting older sucks!! Oh, and that reminds me that during my research, I did find out people from 25-40 years of age have the highest stress levels so I guess thats a reason why we have so much stress. Our group of friends can talk about anything and help each other out if we need it so its gotta be hard for him to hide this from us for so long.

I know this is a sensitive subject but if you guys suffer from it but I was wondering if any of you guys suffer or suffered from digestive problems like him and how did you guys control it or cure it or do you guys have a good gastro-doc that you guys recommend even. He is one of my best friends and we've known each other since Jr high and I hate to see one of my best friends suffer through something like this and we cant hang out and go fishing anymore.

Thanks guys and sorry for the long post!!
