I have a 1996 Johnson 60 HP that was on a 162 Scout I purchased used about 3 years ago. Hadn't had any issues other than having to pull the cowling off to manually choke at the beginning of the day.
A couple of weeks ago, in mid plane, the engine slows down to what I would guess is 1/2 the RPM's that I was running initially (probably 3000 to 1500). I was thinking this was fuel as there was no indicated the engine was missing, etc. I was heading to a close by place to fish and a couple of times the engine rev'd up and then back down, so thought this was fuel related.
Came home, changed the inline filter prior to the bulb and the filter under the cowling. Same situation. Engine starts fine, will rev up while running on the hose in the yard. When it is under load (pushing the boat), will only run about 10 knts and appears to be starving for fuel. Checked plugs and none are fowled, etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
SSNJOHN
