Glad I found this place.
I have been a Texan for about 2 years now. I am originally from Huntington, West Virginia.
I used to do some deer hunting, but I really loved fishing. Mostly bass fishing nearly any place we could find. I especially loved NIGHT fishing for bass. Of course we didn't have gators or water moccasins though.. My fishing buddy had a Ranger and we put it to great use for many years.
We also would make use of it in the Ohio River when we would fish for catfish and carp, which I also really enjoy.
Now I am down here and would love to get back to doing some fishing. It's kinda tough when you don't have access to a boat though. I have been asking around to try and get some tips or info on where I could go to a smallish lake, river or pond that I could walk around and fish for bass. I also have been looking for places I could go and set up on a bank and just sit with a couple poles in the water and fish for catfish and carp. Sorry to say I haven't gotten a single tip or bit of advice from the dozens of people I have asked for help. It's even worse when I ask for info on HOG HUNTING where I have only had maybe 1 or 2 people tell me anything out of maybe 150 people I have asked for help.
It's not easy when you go to a new place that you have never been before in your life and don't know a single person here. I ask and ask and get no help. I can't figure what it is, but I wish it wasn't like it is.
Anyway, I am hoping today can start a new time for me here in Texas. I am in the Houston area, Spring, actually. I don't mind driving an hour or so to fish. I'd like to get some advice from you guys/gals on where I could go and do some fishing and get back to the things I really enjoy. It's been way too long since I've fished and I miss it. Whether it be bass, catfish, carp or even alligator gar, which I would love to tangle with someday, I'll take tips on any water that I can catch 'em on. I hope you all can help me.
I have also thought about trying to find someone that has a bass boat that maybe needs a partner every now and then when they go fishing where I could help pay some of the expenses in exchange for going along. I don't know how that would go over though. Maybe that can work too.
Anyway, I'm glad I'm a member here and I hope to be able to learn some things from you guys and if I can, I'll certainly teach what I know or help anyone I can.
If you know of places that are fairly close to me that I could try out, please let me know or post them. I would be very grateful for your help, believe me.
