Making the decision to finally have this back surgery done was very difficult for me. After years of problems and band aids I am hoping most of my back problems are Behring me. 3 hour and 20 minute surgery Wednesday was what my Neuro Surgeon considered routine and successful.
He did do the 3 level laminectomy but only had to trim one disk slightly. My disk degeneration according to him was very minimal. He said most people would have never even had any pain at all except with my congenital stenosis there just wasn't any room at all for even a 1 mm disk bulge. I no longer have any lamina or spinal process on my lower 3 vertebra. The spinal process is the bone you can feel on your spine. Now my muscle surrounding the spinal cord is my only protection. I didn't need any fusion due to the amount of muscle in my lower back I still have plenty of stability.
I made the mistake and made my son drive me to the fishing shoe yesterday for a few hours. Although it was good seeing everyone I think I overdid it and had quite a lot of pain today. I still have quite a lot of sciatic pain in both legs. Calling the doc tomorrow but I have a feeling that it's due to swelling in those lower muscles that were moved to access my spine. Also the constipation from the pain killers is no fun at all, thanks to my wife for helping me with those issues much better days are in my very near future.
Thanks to my 2Cool family for the support and encouragement getting through this. My goal is to play in the Shell Houston Open Pro Am again this year in 3 weeks. I know it's a very lofty goal but a goal none the less. I may be limited to chipping and putting but that's what I'm shooting for. Doc says its possible maybe not probable.
I do know I will be bouncing across the Gulf again this summer and it can't get here soon enough.
Thanks again 2 Cool Family.
