Value of Nikor - 18-200 mm VR I camera lense?

We have the Nikon D80 and Nikor - 18-200 mm VR I camera lens and my dad and I were interested in selling it on eBay.

I googled around a bit and could not find the value of the lens.

Does anyone know the value of it?

What's your 115 gr 9mm "Recipe"?

Im familiar with reloading just not this caliber.

Gun- 1911 Spartan III

Bullets- 115 gr LRN from Bayou Bullets

OAL- 1.15-1.16

Crimp- 0.375ish

First samples were 3.0 of Clays. Starting load per manufacturer. WAY too light.

This had just enough power to either spill the spent brass literally at my feet or would "ejected" and land right on top of the mag before the slide shut. Obvioulsy going to try a batch of 3.5 or greater.

The other sample rounds were Accurate No 5. I tried 50 @ 4.8 gr and 50 @ 5.0 both too light as well. Not as bad as 3.0 of Clays but not hot enough to fully eject and load the next round.

I have stock of WSF and WST, clays, AA #5, and Unique.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The "Lords" prayer

Matthew 6: 9-13

Our Father in heaven,

May your name be kept holy.

May your kingdom come soon.

May your will be done on earth,

as it is in heaven.

Give us today the food we eat,

and forgive us our sins,

as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.

And don't let us yield to temptation,

but rescue us from the evil one.

Amen...

I just like the way this sounds. Clear, precise, simple words of the greatest author I know.

Verse 14: If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Hmmm.. all is forgiven... not left up for interpretation.

One more time as I must say. I think this is becoming border line stalking.. amazing..

Opinions on World Cat 290CC?

I'm thinking of upgrading from my trusty 246SF (listed on Boat Trader BTW) and thinking a 290CC will fit my storage barn better than a 320CC. I've heard, however, it's a handful in a following sea. More so than other World Cats. Anyone have any experience with this boat?

Shallow Sport 18 hole shot help

I have a 2008 18' SS sport with a 08 115 etec w/4 blade Rogue prop and Cav plate. The boat floats in around 6-8" of water but will not get up in less than 14". Is this common? The boat will start out on the hole shot and just fall off. I feel like it is blowing out. I am new to this boat and would love to hear some advice.

Could it be a prop issue? The current prop has no cup the blades actually almost fold out instead of in (Cup)

WOT it runs about 5600 rpm-35mph which seems low to me.

I would rather have hole shot than speed.

Sea Magic, Seeker, Penn Rods

These rods will work great for reds, jacks, and sharks off the beach or peer, will also work well out deep off a boat for Ling (Cobia), Snapper, Kings, Tuna, AJs and Dorado(MahiMahi)

Top to bottom in pictures:

1) Penn 6ft, 40-60lb class standup fiberglass boat rod w/gimbal and extra long fore grip, great tuna chunking and AJ bait road. (Old school Made in USA, Penn Rod) $50

2) Sea Magic 7ft, 30lb class Heavy Action standup spinning graphite/fiberglass composite boat rod w/aluminum gimbal and reel seat, great for pitching live baits and jigging offshore. 3) Seeker Rods 7ft, American Series A-670 25 (30) 40lb conventional casting/jigging E-Glass boat rod. (Made in USA, basically new, fished twice) $120

report: Lake Texana

I was asking about Texana few days ago. Here is report.

Decided to try N end of lake, used public boat ramp on W side of 59 bridge.

Water was completely muddy, visibility was maybe 3 inches. This caught me off-guard -- I have no idea how to fish in such conditions. It's like in TV show about swamp people. Gars were surfacing everywhere on Navidad river. Fished river, went to lake -- too windy (like 20mph) and muddy, wind was pushing all muddy water back into river (which was probably already very muddy from recent rain). Got few hits, but no hookups. Went to bridge, could not stay there -- felt like in aerodynamic tube. **** wind. Went to main lake (S of bridge), moved around -- 4-5ft everywhere. Found Sandy creek channel (sometimes drops to 15ft). Water the same. There is a "forest of stumps" in 6ft of water -- tried fishing it, almost impossible due to wind and waves and branches and no visibility. Observed local checking trotlines -- he got some nice catfish, a bunch. Looks like those stumps are quite handy for this stuff. Some snake tried to catch a ride on my kayak. In the middle of the god **** lake! It was small (~15") and had brown and white stripes going along entire body. I'll call it striped snake :-)

Went back into river, fished it few miles upstream, observed bunch of alligators -- small ones (~1-2ft) were chasing my bobber and I had some entertainment. They are cute as kittens. Big ones were bigger than me (and I am more than 6ft). I kept my distance, not cute at all. Shad (looks like some kind of minnow) was blowing water all over the place. Went up and down checking suspicious brush. Nothing... Had one or two characteristic bites -- in the middle of the brush, felt like a crappie but no hookup. Seen about 7-10 other boats + 1 kayak, unless they lie they got very little (3 crappie was largest report).

Went back to lake, wind has changed direction and become stronger. Spooked some big carp or buffalo on shallows -- he jumped. Like a little whale, I'd say 8-10lb. Tired and sunburnt went back to boat ramp. To add insult to the injury some dude soaking minnows 3ft from the shore got one crappie and catfish next to the ramp. :headknock

Bottomline:

- got 3 channel cats and 1 white bass throwing jigs with grubs and wedgetails, all in the river... with exception of small cat, I got him on the main lake -- my depth finder is very basic, but he was insisting that there is a lot of activity under me in 11-14ft of water, so I parked there for 30 mins, threw some Gulp catfish bait (that never caught me a single cat) on one rod and worked wedgetail on a jig around me (on another one). All I've got is 8" cat.

- wind was terrible

- water is very muddy -- I do not know how to fish it. In fact, I do not know how other fish (besides cat, buffalo and gar) survive here. I suspect you need to know such water very well in order to fish it successfully. Some local caught 2 crappie in an hour, unloaded kids and went back. You should probably use minnows and know where crappies (and other fish) usually congregate

- I need to learn how to catch catfish -- it is handy in situation like this. Sometimes plastics and hard lures just don't work

- locals are friendly and don't mind chatting a bit

From them I learned:

- main attraction in the lake is catfish (all three types) on jugs and trotlines. Also according to them water is always muddy. North portion of lake is shallow. Southern portion is much deeper and somewhat (not much) clearer. According to one guy he was sometimes catching black bass in small coves over there (I assume mud has some chance to settle down in them)

- lake Texana is not one of the best lakes around. Well, it definitely didn't spoil me today... Next time I'll try southern end in windless weather

- locals gators are generally docile, but you'd better stay away from them in June-July -- mating season, they become very territorial

- occasionally they get good catches of spring crappie (but not too often), white bass now and then and occasional black bass

- there are huge gars in this lake (and tributaries)

Fishing Report: 3/23/14 to 3/30/14

Cabo San Lucas is a must-do for any Spring Breaker! It’s brilliantly white beaches tucked away amongst beautiful rock formations, like El Arco, provide the perfect backdrop to parasailing or enjoying a great day of partying with your friends. Dance the night away in the world famous bars of Cabo Wabo Cantina and El Squid Roe. Make Spring Break 2014 your best one yet in Cabo San Lucas!

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: The weather has been really good all week with basically a little warmer than normal temperatures. The wind has still been blowing in the afternoons and does have some effect on the fishing but it has tailed of some compared to what it was over last 2 weeks. The heat is coming early this year I can feel it some days this as we were close to hitting ninety a few days over the last 10 days.

WATER: The water temperature has warmed some with temperatures in the low 70,s to mid 70,s in most. This rush of warmer water in the area is a little early but we expect fishing to get better because of it.

TUNA: I don’t have any reports on Tuna as they are pretty much nonexistent right now and were are hoping for some schools to show.

BILLFISH: Well the fishing has been pretty crazy with water temperatures all over the map and the Marlin fishing really slow at the beginning of the week with a few fish caught down by Palmilla to the inside of Gordo Banks and we caught them on ballyhoo and live bait. The week really started off with bad fishing and in the middle of the week we were getting skunked and then it slowly rebounded by Friday with a number of Marlin catches in the 1150 and 95 spots, then all hell broke loose on Saturday and there was Marlin everywhere from the 1150 all the way up the Light House offshore and inshore we were catching Marlin. We had 3 boats out that day and we caught 9 Marlin and 2 Dorado from those 3 boats. So the Marlin fishing really came back towards the end of the week making for some happy anglers.

DORADO: The Dorado fishing has been pretty good lately up and around the 1150 and one day we found a buoy floating by and there was all kinds of Dorado and Wahoo underneath it and we had a field day catching fish. Lots of boats were in the area and everyone cleaned up catching 5 or 6 Dorado a boat and a good number of Wahoo.

INSHORE: The inshore fishing is still just ok from Grey Rock to the Pump House with lots of big Sierras caught on ballyhoo slow trolled and even some caught on hootchies and stripped bait. There is still a few Yellowtail being caught in front of the Solmar and off Sunset Beach and we are jigging iron to land them. To be honest with you the Yellowtail fishing has really never kicked in this season and I don’t think the water really got cold enough and stay cold long enough for the Yellowtail to hang around. There has been a few Groupers, but not much, and what has been caught, were landed on iron and cut bait.

WAHOO: There has been some good numbers of Wahoo this past week with most of them being landed Friday and Saturday and they were hanging with the Dorado and it seems this warm water we have in the area has really propelled the Dorado and Wahoo bite because normally we wouldn’t be catching those fish this time of year, but who is complaining. Most Wahoo landed were in the 30lbs to 50lbs range.

Jerrys Grilled Grouper

This is a Baja California secret ... and a great way to grill fish that leaves you worry-free. Not only does this make for easier fish cleaning, but the scales keep the fish from drying out while on the grill. Fish cooked this way consistently results in juicy, moist fillets.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons melted butter

3 cloves minced garlic

1 tablespoon finely grated Parmesan

1 tablespoon Essence, recipe follows

4 tablespoons olive oil

1 (3 1/2 to 4 pound) grouper, fillets removed with scales intact

1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs, such as tarragon, thyme, basil or chives

Arugula and Orange Salad

2 1/2 tablespoons paprika

2 tablespoons salt

2 tablespoons garlic powder

1 tablespoon black pepper

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon dried leaf oregano

1 tablespoon dried thyme

Salad:

2 cups arugula, cleaned

2 cups baby spinach, cleaned

1/2 red onion, sliced thinly

1 orange, supremed

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1/4 cup orange juice

1 tablespoon white wine vinegar

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions

Preheat the grill to medium-high.

In a small bowl combine the butter, garlic, Parmesan, Essence, and olive oil and whisk to combine.

Lay the fillets on the grill, scale side down, and brush generously with the melted butter mixture. Close the grill cover and cook for 3 minutes. Open and brush again with the melted butter mixture. Repeat this process until the flesh is firm and opaque, for a total cooking time of about 12 to 15 minutes for this size fish. The last minute of cooking time, sprinkle with the fresh herbs. Remove from the grill and serve immediately with Arugula and Orange Salad.

Jerrys Secrect Seasoning

Combine all ingredients thoroughly and store in an airtight jar or container.

Yield: about 2/3 cup

In a large salad bowl, combine the arugula, spinach, red onion, and orange segments.

In a small bowl, whisk together the mustard, orange juice, and vinegar. While whisking, slowly drizzle in the oil. Whisk until emulsified and season with salt and pepper.

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://ift.tt/1kqvlb5 http://ift.tt/1hXb0p9

Snake I D

Found this guy in my pool skimmer yesterday. I know nothing about snakes but wondered what kind it is. There are some small leaves on its head and I have pictures of it from the top and of its underside. First pic is of its underside and second pic is of it from the top. What kind is it? It was faded from being in the pool but looks like it had some reddish tone, some black and possibly some faded yellow but not sure but maybe someone can tell from the pattern on it's skin.

John 9:1-41

As Jesus passed by he saw a man blind from birth.

His disciples asked him,

“Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents,

that he was born blind?”

Jesus answered,

“Neither he nor his parents sinned;

it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him.

We have to do the works of the one who sent me while it is day.

Night is coming when no one can work.

While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

When he had said this, he spat on the ground

and made clay with the saliva,

and smeared the clay on his eyes,

and said to him,

“Go wash in the Pool of Siloam” —which means Sent—.

So he went and washed, and came back able to see.

His neighbors and those who had seen him earlier as a beggar said,

“Isn’t this the one who used to sit and beg?”

Some said, “It is, “

but others said, “No, he just looks like him.”

He said, “I am.”

So they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

He replied,

“The man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes

and told me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’

So I went there and washed and was able to see.”

And they said to him, “Where is he?”

He said, “I don’t know.”

They brought the one who was once blind to the Pharisees.

Now Jesus had made clay and opened his eyes on a sabbath.

So then the Pharisees also asked him how he was able to see.

He said to them,

“He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.”

So some of the Pharisees said,

“This man is not from God,

because he does not keep the sabbath.”

But others said,

“How can a sinful man do such signs?”

And there was a division among them.

So they said to the blind man again,

“What do you have to say about him,

since he opened your eyes?”

He said, “He is a prophet.”

Now the Jews did not believe

that he had been blind and gained his sight

until they summoned the parents of the one who had gained his sight.

They asked them,

“Is this your son, who you say was born blind?

How does he now see?”

His parents answered and said,

“We know that this is our son and that he was born blind.

We do not know how he sees now,

nor do we know who opened his eyes.

Ask him, he is of age;

he can speak for himself.”

His parents said this because they were afraid

of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed

that if anyone acknowledged him as the Christ,

he would be expelled from the synagogue.

For this reason his parents said,

“He is of age; question him.”

So a second time they called the man who had been blind

and said to him, “Give God the praise!

We know that this man is a sinner.”

He replied,

“If he is a sinner, I do not know.

One thing I do know is that I was blind and now I see.”

So they said to him,

“What did he do to you?

How did he open your eyes?”

He answered them,

“I told you already and you did not listen.

Why do you want to hear it again?

Do you want to become his disciples, too?”

They ridiculed him and said,

“You are that man’s disciple;

we are disciples of Moses!

We know that God spoke to Moses,

but we do not know where this one is from.”

The man answered and said to them,

“This is what is so amazing,

that you do not know where he is from, yet he opened my eyes.

We know that God does not listen to sinners,

but if one is devout and does his will, he listens to him.

It is unheard of that anyone ever opened the eyes of a person born blind.

If this man were not from God,

he would not be able to do anything.”

They answered and said to him,

“You were born totally in sin,

and are you trying to teach us?”

Then they threw him out.

When Jesus heard that they had thrown him out,

he found him and said, ADo you believe in the Son of Man?”

He answered and said,

“Who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?”

Jesus said to him,

“You have seen him,

the one speaking with you is he.”

He said,

“I do believe, Lord,” and he worshiped him.

Then Jesus said,

“I came into this world for judgment,

so that those who do not see might see,

and those who do see might become blind.”

Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this

and said to him, “Surely we are not also blind, are we?”

Jesus said to them,

“If you were blind, you would have no sin;

but now you are saying, ‘We see,’ so your sin remains.

Mounting an LED lightbar on grabrail

I have a 20" LED lightbar I want to mount on the grabrail on my RedfishLine. The clamps I have have a small and large rubber grommet that is supposed to fit tubing from 1-2". When I install the small grommets the mounts can be tightened but will twist around and not provide a stable mount. I saw the Fourtreks mounts on another thread, or should I just take it to an aluminum guy and have him weld some tabs. Bad thing about tabs is that they will be this light specific. Any ideas guys?

Targetting flounder

Ok, I've done a fair amount of surf fishing, and a little bit of bay fishing, but I've never specifically fished for flounder. I'm thinking its a good time to start (This year, at least). I'll be in galveston for a week starting April 11. Are they running back into/out of the bays currently? I seriously have no clue when it comes to these fish. What works this time of year as far as artificials and live, how should I retrieve, etc. Where should I go, or am I totally wasting my time this time of year? If it's not a great time, I'll happily hit the surf. I'll search past boards as I'm sure there is already a boatload of info out there. Just thought I'd get some current feedback. I'm stuck in Africa for the next couple of weeks, so that should give me some time to read up and get the basics down. We all know the real work comes when the line's in the water, though!

Caterpillar diesel mechanic needed

I'm looking for a good diesel mechanic that can work on a Caterpillar 3208 TA 375 HP motor that's in a 32 WhiteWater. I plan on hauling it back from Florida in a week or two and it needs some freshening up. It would be easier for me if they were in the Galveston/Clear Lake area. If you know of someone, please let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

Looking for a good Conroe Livingston Houston boat dealers

The wife and I have decided to entertain the idea of buying a new boat. Looking for a 21-25 center console. This isnt a want to but ad but instead a where to buy ad. The last boat i bought was from a dealer in conroe (texas marine) when i bought the skeeter i have now, that was 8 years ago. I really dont want to get rid of that boat but whant some opions on haveing two boats too. Good idea or not? There isnt anything wrong with the boat we have execpt on the lake in rough water it beats you to death and can really only fish 2 people. Again this is mostly just asking for a trust worthy dealer to go look at some well made CC's .

Mods: if in the wrong forum please move. I only saw boats for sale. Thanks.

Luke 18:9-14

Jesus addressed this parable

to those who were convinced of their own righteousness

and despised everyone else.

“Two people went up to the temple area to pray;

one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector.

The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself,

‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity —

greedy, dishonest, adulterous — or even like this tax collector.

I fast twice a week,

and I pay tithes on my whole income.’

But the tax collector stood off at a distance

and would not even raise his eyes to heaven

but beat his breast and prayed,

‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’

I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former;

for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled,

and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Offseason Hog Hunting

I'm always looking for places around the state to get into some hogs, but I don't want to pay a fortune to do it. Can't take public land anymore, too expansive and restricted, only way to find them anymore is dogs or blind, stupid luck. Looking for a place that I can set up a feeder/stand for free, very little charge, or hard labor if you have property chores that need doing. If you've got a hog problem I want to work with you to control it; I do not want to put your kids through college to do it though. Let me know if you have an opportunity/lead for something like this. PM if you like, I'm available.

CCA wrong when it comes to allocating additional snapper to recreational anglers

CCA wrong when it comes to allocating additional snapper to recreational anglers

By David Sikes <http://ift.tt/1f2i4lF;

March 27, 2014

CORPUS CHRISTI — Fisheries management would be so simple if regulations were based solely on science.

But that’s impossible in a world where special — interest groups, political factions, constituency pandering, public suspicion, misinformation, ignorance, economics, finger pointing and a host of other nonscientific influences get in the way of reason and sound policy decisions.

And in the case of red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico, not enough science really exists to know for certain whether the best available information is really that reliable. How do we accurately count fish in the sea? We don’t. We do the best we can based on a handful of near certainties.

Harvest count could be, and indeed should be, among these near-certainties. We know basically how many red snapper commercial boats remove from the gulf because they adopted a system in 2007 for logging their harvest. Actual fish counts now determine whether the commercial sector has achieved its annual share of the harvest.

The elimination of guesswork makes for better management. The commercial harvest mystery was solved and with that came professional flexibility with reasonable limits.

And soon it should be just as easy to calculate the number of snapper brought in by anglers who fish with charter outfits and on party boats. A pilot program currently is underway to test an accountability system for the party boat fleet that is similar to the catch shares method used by the commercial fleet.

Nobody doubts accurate harvest data is one of the hallmarks of a science-based fisheries management program. And you would think any conservation organization representing the best interests of a natural resource would lead the charge for greater accountability of the red snapper harvest.

And certainly such organizations would campaign against a system that repeatedly results in harvesting millions of pounds more than a user group is allowed by law to take. For years, this was the accusation leveled at the commercial fishery. And you can bet recreational anglers were plenty angry at the unfairness.

But since commercial fisherman adopted a system that keeps them honest, the tables have turned.

Now, and for years, it is the recreational sector that has repeatedly gone over its harvest quota. Harvest overages can total more than a million pounds each year. Since 2007, recreational anglers collectively have harvested 8.54 million pounds more than our allocated share, according to calculations by federal fisheries managers.

And despite possessing the authority to sanction recreational anglers for these overages, federal fisheries managers have never subtracted the overruns from the following year’s allocation. Part of the reason is the National Marine Fisheries Service is not willing to stand firm against mounting political pressure. Another likely reason is they’re not certain of their own calculations.

And that’s a problem. A problem that could be partially solved with a better accounting system for a very substantial recreational harvest. Again, you would think a coastal conservation organization would be struggling to fill this glaring data gap in the overall harvest of a highly regulated, overfished species.

And some conservation groups are indeed calling for improved accountability for better management.

But the Coastal Conservation Association has taken a different tack. The organization, considered the most influential angler-based group in the country, is demanding that federal fisheries managers give additional snapper shares to the only fisheries sector without a harvest accounting system.

For all the good CCA does to protect and enhance fisheries, this snapper strategy simply does not make good conservation sense. CCA is bombarding its members with a propaganda message that is anything but straightforward and, I believe, is insincere. The organization is crying foul and proclaiming the current snapper allocation — 51 percent for the commercials and 49 percent for the recreational sector — is unfair, outdated and uneconomical. I will not argue this point, except to insist this is a suggestion out of sequence.

The recreational sector has never adhered to its 49 percent allocation. In 2009, recreational anglers harvested 65 percent of the total annual quota and then went over its quota again the following year. So the 51-49 allocation is a farce.

It would be irresponsible to reward a segment of the fishery with a greater percentage of the quota before it adopts some kind of measure to keep its harvest numbers in check. Maybe a tag system. CCA is behaving like a parent who would rather be friends with their kids (members) than make the difficult and unpopular decision to keep them in line.

Federal fisheries managers have been looking the other way for years while the recreational sector harvests more than its share. Federal neglect doesn’t give CCA license to shun its responsibility. CCA should demand accountability from every sector.

Instead, when the annual combined snapper quota for a given year exceeds 9.12 million pounds, CCA strongly supports a proposal to give recreational anglers 75 percent of any amount over 9.12 million pounds. The organization essentially is asking to be given legally what recreational anglers have been taking for years without authorization.

The organization hardly mentions the lack of accountability of private recreational anglers in its indignant arguments. CCA says it wants a greater piece of the pie because the current 51-49 split is outdated, irrelevant, unjust and because a red snapper is worth more when caught by a recreational angler compared with the economic value of a snapper caught on a commercial boat and sold at a restaurant or fish market.

Again, I will not argue this economic point. And actually I don’t dispute the position.

But the greater point is that we should not base fisheries management on economic multipliers that have nothing to do with maintaining a sustainable resource. The amount of money generated from the sale of offshore boats, fuel, bait and ice, along with the revenue snapper anglers spend in coastal communities will not necessarily fix a fishery or reverse the damage of overfishing.

A healthy fishery, which is the goal here, can accommodate all user groups fairly if and only if we collect reliable harvest numbers from the last remaining holdout.

Is the federal management system flawed? Sure it is. But we cannot correct a flawed system by ignoring one of its greatest deficiencies. Accountability must be our highest priority and certainly should be well ahead of any redistribution scheme.

So stop asking for an additional helping when you’ve already taken more than your share.

AC/Heat for a garage loft?

Wife and I made an offer on a house with a 2 car deep garage (20x40). She could really use the loft as a home office. Anyone here ever finished one out with AC/Heat? What's the most economical option?

A bonus would be the ability to AC/Heat the garage while working in there too. Will be claiming a corner as a workshop mancave.

On that note, show off your garage man caves to give me ideas!

Oh the Irony

Here is an interesting irony. The article below lists the nine dirtiest commercial fisheries in the U.S., one of which is, of course, southeast red snapper with a 66 percent discard rate. Another is the southeast shrimp fishery with a discard rate of 64 percent.

So, two of the dirtiest fisheries in the U.S. are hammering Gulf red snapper, and yet just this week the “Environmental” Defense Fund helped the Gulf commercial red snapper fishery win a court case against recreational angling and further solidify its stranglehold on this fishery. The article below was compiled by Oceana.

Perhaps the environmental groups should compare notes…
