Looking for a caterer in the Pearland/Friendswood area

I need a caterer for a business grand opening. Not sure of the numbers, as it is more of an "open house". Maybe 100, maybe 200? Not looking for heavy food, just light appetizers. I need full service, as I will be too busy to man it myself.

Any ideas?

Tax on selling a vehicle, SPV?

I am about to sell a vehicle to an individual. My question is how to handle the tax for the purchaser?

Wishing to avoid taxes, we wish to use the Standard Presumptive Value instead of the purchase price. How do we handle this when we go to the tax office?

Jigging type of day

I do a few trips a year with my friend Add and his wife Shelly and some of his family usually on his boat. This time was on his boat and the seas made it very challenging for his 25 Proline. We got a late start due to fog and slowly bounced our way out to our targeted area. We trolled around marking schools of what appeared to be blackfin tuna. I attempted to chunk on them but we were drifting at over 2 miles per hour and bouncing a lot so it was not working.

All I could do was drop the Anteater jigs that I just purchased on the fish. Shelly was the first to wrestle an amberjack to the boat.

We did manage to pick up a bonito on a Russelure but there were no other takers trolling all day. The little bit of chunking only got us a few sharks. I do not know what was worse the rough seas or the fish with lock jaw. It was quite a bit later in the day when we find another amberjack. Add has the pleasure of fighting this guy. It is just about carbon copy of our first.

Although it was hot the winds and seas forced us to keep our slicker suits on most of the day. The amberjack were even playing hard to get today but we did get them to go after a few jigs.

It was even nice to get a small one just to give us something for our efforts. The blackfin were thick at about every rig we went to but not eating anything at all. It was too rough to go any place else with the boat we were in so we just hit that area hard.

Later in the day Add picked up 1 blackfin on a jig. This made us spend a little more time out there but due to the seas and slow rough ride we had to get back in safely we had to put an end to our fishing adventures early.

The angle of the boat to the horizon shows how the seas were. The 25 Proline CC did well. The boat has twins and is equipped with dual Simrad navigational systems. I have been on it a few times last year also but this was about the roughest yet. Never any danger just an uncomfortable day with only a few fish for our efforts.

Life is Good!

Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.

Ltb TFO Axiom 8wt

Looking for my first big boy rod. I'm put out with my old BP slow 9wt. I will be using it for reds here in the bay and 4-5 times a year down PINS. I really like the feel of the Axiom 8wt over the BVK or Mangrove, but have yet to cast a TICRX. If anyone has a used one they are willing to let go of I would gladly take it off your hands. Also, other suggestion will be well contemplated and appreciated. Most likely going to pair it with one of the 3 reels I like: Sage 4280, Orvis Hydros, or Lamson Guru. Thanks for the help y'all!

John 13:21-33, 36-38

Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified,

“Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant.

One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved,

was reclining at Jesus’ side.

So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant.

He leaned back against Jesus’ chest and said to him,

“Master, who is it?”

Jesus answered,

“It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.”

So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas,

son of Simon the Iscariot.

After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him.

So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”

Now none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him.

Some thought that since Judas kept the
money bag, Jesus had told him,

“Buy what we need for the feast,”

or to give something to the poor.

So Judas took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.

When he had left, Jesus said,

“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself,

and he will glorify him at once.

My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.

You will look for me, and as I told the Jews,

‘Where I go you cannot come,’ so now I say it to you.”

Simon Peter said to him, “Master, where are you going?”

Jesus answered him,

“Where I am going, you cannot follow me now,

though you will follow later.”

Peter said to him,

“Master, why can I not follow you now?

I will lay down my life for you.”

Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me?

Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow

before you deny me three times

cookin up the gaffy tonight, review coming

caught 2 gafftop in east bay Saturday and they were possibly the 2 biggest I've ever caught (both weighed 6-7 lbs), my brother insisted that we keep the 2nd one. Very easy to clean, and the fish surprisingly wasn't very slimy when I cleaned him. Good thick, firm meat. I'm going to fry it up for dinner, I'll let you know how she tastes!

I caught one.

I didn't. I put Brent on The fish. Strong winds, LOW tide, Coffee Latte. color with foam. Halls Bayou. I could not get into the Lake.

Wondering how the birds are responding this year? Has anyone been hunting yet? Heading up there this weekend.

True Love

After nearly 50 years of marriage a couple was lying in bed one evening when the wife felt her husband begin to massage her in ways he hadn't in quite some time.

It almost tickled as his fingers started at her neck, and then began moving down past the small of her back. He then caressed her shoulders and neck, slowly worked his hand down, stopping just over her stomach. He then proceeded to place his hand on her left inner arm, working down her side. Then, he proceeded up her thigh, stopping just at the uppermost portion of her leg.

He continued in the same manner on her right side, then suddenly stopped, rolled over and became silent. She asked in a loving voice, ‘Honey that was wonderful. Why did you stop?' To which he responded: 'I found the remote.'

Waded Cal yesterday with JimD. First 2cooler to fish with me here and we almost hit it right. Wind out of the south at 15 and my first spot was real bad so I decided to head west. Found a spot on the way with way good water considering and jumped in. JimD caught the first trout on a pink fat boy about 2# and I followed up with a 4# in the same area with a mirrordine xl. Beat the area to death until the water changed with only a couple more misses. Wind increased to 20 out of the south and we ran down the ship channel in 2-3'. Next stop only produced one 2# flounder on mirrordine xl and spit the whole bait once i got close enough to boga.

Gibbons Creek 3/29/2015

We hit Gibbons about 7AM with strong winds out of the southwest. Our first spot was on open shore line which kept the boat rocking pretty good but that is where the fish were biting. We sat there about 2 hrs and caught 12 nice 2 and 3 pounders until the wind became too much to handle. We then anchored on a protected shoreline in 2 locations and only found one fish to cooperate. Most fish were caught in about 4 ft. of water on tight lines using CJs Crawfish bait.

Hit obstruction...prop no spinny

This actually happened a few weeks ago, but I hit an obstruction while on plane and knocked something loose.

The linkage seems fine, motor rpms up correctly in forward and revers, but the prop does not spin. Put it on the trailer, put it in gear (engine off) and you can free spin the prop either direction, in reverse or forward.

I took the prop off and got to the bearing housing and seal assembly and decided this is to much for my limited mechanic skills. Off to a mechanic we go.

Should I contact my insurance company before I haul it to a mechanic or go vice versa?

HEADLINES: March 30, 2015:

Well JC seemed a little under the weather this past week! Seems as if the fishing gods had not come to town and only springbreakers. With fishing being so slow JC vowed to lock him self in his room and not come out till fishing got better, and thats what he did? I went by to see him and, He screamed: I aint taking any visitors especially you He said: How do you have time to come check on me when you are supposed to be writing that so called fishing report So I left and the last I heard him screaming was Ill come out when the fishing gods return !!! Great I will come check on you next week I said. Then he said: dont bother I am the Admiral and your not!!

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well lets get on with the fishing report for this past week.

WEATHER: The weather is really nice, and has been all week, with highs in the mid to ladder 80,s and lows in the low 60,s. Typical great weather over the last week, but it doesn’t seem to have helped the fishing any, as its been pretty slow in all areas. We expect the continuation of good weather for the next week or so. Since we are hoping the weather is good that the fishing starts to get better.

WATER: Well, we have some really cool water north of us on the Pacific side, and I expect this cooler water to move into our area soon. 60 to 100 miles north of us there is a mass of cool water lingering and its moving our way. According to the temp Break map there is water there in the 67 to 69 degree range. We here in Cabo and the surrounding areas are right around 71 to 74 with patches of warm water south of us, and in the Sea od Cortez side, which are up to around 76 or 77 degrees.

This link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja. http://ift.tt/1yf3HC5

BILLFISH : A few Marlin up and around the Light House on the Pacific side. We were using live bait and ballyhoo to land a few, but really not many at all.So it has been unpredictable as to where we are going to find the fish, but lucky for us, we don’t have to go for much of a boat ride to run into great fishing, cause we are in Cabo. Lucky Us!!!

DORADO: It seems as if they are long gone, this past week. I haven’t really heard of anything as far as Dorado goes this week. We are hoping this turns around this coming week.

WAHOO : Havent heard of any this past week.

TUNA: If you want to run 25 miles and look hard there is a remote possibility you mite run into some Tuna. It would be a **** shoot though, as nothing has been reported.

INSHORE: The inshore fishing has been just ok with very few Sierras no Yellowtail reported that I heard of. We expect when the water has finally cooled some, we will see some better inshore action on the Sierras and Yellowtail. That cool water is moving south and by next week we expect Yellowtail and Sierra fishing to pick up

Mexican Style Pacific Red Snapper

*Serves 2

2 red snapper fillets

1/4 cup of finely chopped red onion

5 small cluster tomatoes (quartered)

3 cloves of garlic, crushed

3 tablespoons of chopped parsley

1 tablespoon of butter

1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice

salt & pepper

sprinkling of dried thyme

1. Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and saute for a bit until the onion is slightly softened. Add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, squeeze of lemon juice and a light sprinkle of thyme.

2. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the ingredients just begin to resemble a chunky fresh pasta sauce.

3. Lightly salt & pepper the fish fillets and add them into the pan.

4. Cook each fillet for about 2-3 minutes per side (continue flipping 1-2 more times, depending on how thick the fillets are and how quickly they cook).

5. Fish will be done when it’s white and begins to flake.

6. Serve it with the sauce scooped over. (We also roasted some market carrots and broccoli as a side dish).

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://ift.tt/1kqvlb5 http://ift.tt/1yf3GOB

Mounted grinding wheels 1/4" shank

I have several hundred. Probably close to 1,000. Bought as industrial surplus 20 years ago with a bunch of other stuff. They don't sell well on CL or ebay. I'm tired of looking at them and lugging them around. One group is 1/2" cylindrical and the other is about a 1-1/2" dia. conical. Come get them.

How long ??

What would be the appropriate amount of time to wait on a vendor/contractor (Mechanic, A/C, Plumber) ????? I've been in contact with the guy often and we have already discussed the work that needs to be done and all the details, but he hasn't shown up to do the work or even gotten with me to schedule a date/time.... So I'm just wondering how long I should wait on him before searching for someone else to do the work??? 1 week, 2 weeks, a month ???

Sabine Pass 3/28/15

Left out early to shifting winds and confused seas. Had a SW swell with an east wind most of the trip out. Water and wind turned perfect and we had a good day of fishing. Started kinda slow but found some good fish and had a lot of fun. Few pics from the day, one again great friends and good fishing trip.

Good all-around 1/2 ton 2wd Truck tire?

So I just picked up used 1500 2wd extended cab truck with locking rear diff... it is about time to change the worn down street tires that are 275/55/20. I will keep stock size but I want a more aggressive tire that will help me out if I am off the pavement or on a slick boat ramp.

I drive about 10k miles a year

-Drive mostly around town / hwy

-Tow a bay boat occasionally

-make a couple trips to the beach (SLP/matagorda) and lease a year, but i don't usually go out looking to get stuck / "romp around" off-road

I have had the original BFG KOs on a jeep and they last forever if you rotate them. They have really strong sidewalls and off-road well not the best in mud but a practical A/T. Only thing that I did not like was after 25k miles they seemed to get a bit loose on wet pavement. But, they were a slightly over sized tire to be fair.... I wonder if this is improved on the KO2s?

I also was reading some good reviews for the Cooper Discoverer A/T3. They look like they might be better in the wet... less aggressive(the tread on the KO2 might be a bit much for my application but they look sweet), Coopers are less $$$ and they are supposed to be quite.

Has anyone had these or recommendations for a 1/2 ton 2wd truck.

More power out of a Ford 5.4l 2v?

Hey guys, I was just curious if any of yall have the Ford 5.4l 2v and did anything to get any more power out of it. I have a 2002 f250 with the gas 5.4 (I know, I also have a diesel) and I really like the truck..... But it is slow... I know most guys are like myself and want the most out of their truck.... And it just plain fun to buy truck parts and fix up your ride.... Really all I'm reading is to get any noticeable power out of the motor, forced induction with a supercharger is the go to answer....

What have yall done to get more out of this motor?

Default I am about to learn to use Dads old Baitcasting Reels. Easy or Hard to learn?

I lost my dad about a month ago and today i was going though old fishing stuff and decide to learn to use a bait casting reels that he had. As a kid I learned to fish with the old Zebco 88 and later spincasting reels.

The few times I tried the bait casting reels I made some of the nicest bird nest seen to man.

Any good tips to use a baitcasting reel.

I am sure grateful for the time dad taught me to fish. Great family activity..

You never know what you are reeling in

March 28, 2015

John 11:45-56

Many of the Jews who had come to Mary

and seen what Jesus had done began to believe in him.

But some of them went to the Pharisees

and told them what Jesus had done.

So the chief priests and the Pharisees

convened the Sanhedrin and said,

“What are we going to do?

This man is performing many signs.

If we leave him alone, all will believe in him,

and the Romans will come

and take away both our land and our nation.”

But one of them, Caiaphas,

who was
high priest that year, said to them,

“You know nothing,

nor do you consider that it is better for you

that one man should die instead of the people,

so that the whole nation may not perish.”

He did not say this on his own,

but since he was high priest for that year,

he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

and not only for the nation,

but also to gather into one the dispersed children of God.

So from that day on they planned to kill him.

So Jesus no longer walked about in public among the Jews,

but he left for the region near the desert,

to a town called Ephraim,

and there he remained with his disciples.

Now the Passover of the Jews was near,

and many went up from the country to Jerusalem

before Passover to purify themselves.

They looked for Jesus and said to one another

as they were in the temple area, “What do you think?

That he will not come to the feast?”

US gun regulations for Mexico hunters

For those few on here that hunt Mexico, there are new US regulations going into effect May 1st that will make it almost impossible to take your rifles across and bring them back each trip. In a nutshell, you will have to obtain a EIN number(business tax id with the feds), file for an exempt status since you are not a gun dealer, contact feds 8 hours before you plan to "Export" you guns and then check them back into the US each time you cross.

There is a lot more to the regulations and some IRS implications since technically you have to have a business name and appears will have to file a "no business conducted" tax form at the end of the year.

For me, the worst part is being forced to leave my rifles in Mexico for the entire season and the risk involved. Looks like I will be needing a gun safe to haul across the border, that should get everyone's attention.

Never mid you guys going to Canada whitetail or spring bear hunting next month. The Africa hunters will have customs agents more readily available at the airports but once again, this is just another way for the anti gun people to stop us from hunting.

Thanks to you folks that voted for Obama!

Regulations question

I guess I could just go get a TPWD book but not at this time. What is the regulation on cleaning/fileting non-game fish? I know you can't filet trout/reds/flounder until the final docking point after catching. But what about fish such as whiting or croaker? Can you catch them on the beach then filet them there? (I know, I know,...who keeps these).

Woods Offshore Venice REPORT: makos, wahoo, and big tunas

To be quite honest, the fishing has been far from wide open. It has definitely been a quality, not quantity bite for 2015. Can't really complain though, as we have all year long to catch the schoolies, so it is nice to be able to put in the time for the big girls and get rewarded with some true trophy yellowfin. The full moon really messed things up for a lot of us, and if it wasn't for a couple surprise makos, 2 weekends ago would have been really slow. Hooked one well north of 700 around 4:20 a couple weekends ago, got her to leader over a dozen times, and just couldn't seal the deal. She was either too deep for the shotgun, or just not in the best position for the harpoon. Swivel opened up a little after dark and we lost her. Super cool seeing her in the underwater lights though mere feet from my hands. Heartbreaker. Never thought I'd see a high dollar swivel open up. All ball bearing for me from now on. Got a little revenge a week later with a little 200# male. Got into the wahoos good one day; they have been pretty elusive for most everyone. Otherwise, been fortunate to harvest some really fat yellowfin on just about every single trip. This close in bite on the big girls should last into April, before we move offshore with the showing of tinker mackerels, which are our first live baits of the year. Tuna usually run on the small side in April, but the bite is fast and furious and we see some of the biggest blue marlin of the year which come in and feed on the peanuts. April will find us focusing more on blue marlin and daytime swords. Check out my instagram page for more frequently updated pics. Working on a video now, with some good boatside footage of that big mako. Big thank you to everyone that has fished with me, and look forward to fishing with some more of you guys.

North to south

I have always wondered about this and am hoping some of you might be able to help educate me.

Assuming Galveston bay, when's small northern hits like this and blows north for two days then switches to south west, what does that do to the fish? Do they tend to be more aggressive or less aggressive? Is the water churned up and off color? Is there a rule of thumb as to how long you wanna sit after a front, before you fish?

I remember hearing as a kid that it's best to wait 3-4 days after a front but is that true?

Thanks in advance gang.

Double Cable Steering

A complete double cable steering system for an 18' center console. This includes the helm, tilt tube and everything needed (except steering wheel) for a complete installation on a Mercury and other makes. This system works very well and is in good condition. If interested I can text pictures and measure exact length if necessary. With double cable it is easier to control motor over a typical single cable system. If your steering is stiff or frozen this would be a great opportunity to solve the problem while upgrading at the same time and doing it cheap.Open to reasonable offer

Swamplands Second Annual Rodbuilders Gathering in the Swamp

My wife and I just decided on the date when we'll host our second annual "Gathering in the Swamps" rodbuilders gathering on May 2nd and 3rd 2015, which is on Saturday and Sunday. Starting at 9:00 AM and ending at who knows what time PM.

This is an open invitation to anyone from anywhere that wants to come on down for a cràwfish boil on Saturday with all the fixin's like potatoes, sausage, carrots, mushrooms and whatever other critters we can toss into the pot.

We'll have several demos going on during the day Saturday and on Sunday.

Also, I've received word that Bill and Karry Batson will be there along with New York's own Billy Vivona and hopefully we'll have other company reps coming down. Just waiting on them to say the word that they'll be here.

Lathe demos, wrapping, finishing, grip making, crosswrap other demos, tricks and anything else that may be of interest. Anyone interested in volunteering to do a demo of a technique that you're proficient in would be most welcome. If we could get a list of volunteers ahead of time we could post the demos here.

And of course we'll try to have door prizes and everything I have in stock, if anyone wants to purchase anything, will be on sale at wholesale or below wholesale prices.

We'll keep everyone posted as to any updates we may have. Hope to have a large crowd on hand for a fun filled weekend.

Good example for check-lists

News item tonight:

http://ift.tt/1FJCqOF

The plane was an amphibian, and the pilot failed to retract the wheels before landing on water. This guy was lucky.

Before any call him stupid, think how many times we all do routine things without a checklist? Here are a few things that everyone should have a short checklist, before doing:

Hooking up any trailer.

Launching any boat.

Retrieving any boat.

Pulling out any RV trailer.

Setting up any RV.

Hooking up, or un-hooking, any 5th wheel!!

Etc.....

I made up my checklists after I pulled out a 5'er with a storage door unlocked. Before, I had always done a walk-around without a list, not good enough..

I once saw a new truck towing a new 5'er, pullout without the landing gear down. A heavily dented truck bed!

A short list, plastic coated, is cheap insurance for a brain-fart.

My fishing buddy and I had a ball yesterday limiting out on 20-25" black drum and 4 reds in the upper slot. We caught and released large drum until we were tired of catching. It was a great day even though we didn't try to find any trout. They are hard to come by now.

Best digital antenna for cable cord cutters?

I have cut the cord from Comcast. Roku is great, but I wanted to have access to local TV as well. I bought an inexpensive RCA digital antenna from Best Buy, and it just doesn't work well. I get plenty of foreign language channels fine, but good ol' 2, 11 and 13 (Houston) are very intermittent.

I live 2 minutes from NRG Stadium, and figured I would be able to get everything with a cheap antenna. Not so.

So can someone recommend a make and model of antenna that will work for me? Do I want a powered antenna?

I don't need it to be small, but I don't really want a complicated install. I would like to be able to just place it on top of the cabinet that is next to my TV. I don't want to run cables through the 2nd floor and onto my roof...

UTV Choices??

So it seems most on here like the Polaris Ranger, and I kinda like them as well. So many brands out these days with different options. Anyone have a Can-Am or Honda Pioneer? My neighbor loves his Pioneer but it seems a little under powered to me.

I am looking to get something, mostly for fun around the neighborhood (drive my daughter around in the evenings) . A little work mixed in but I will not be toting around hundreds of pounds of corn with it or driving through flooded fields to duck hunt.

I have been looking at the Polaris Ranger 900 XP but I am interested on other opinions in comparison with some of the other similar make/models.

Why you choose one over the other, etc. Everyone always tells me that they didn't get Polaris because of the drive belt, but I am not really sure how big of problem that really is???

Thanks

The old tire debate - BFG KO's or Nitto Terra Grappler?

Seems any time there is a tire thread, these two tires get the most recommendations, with fans on both sides. I posted most of this on the TTMB board, buried on page three of another tire thread, and thought I would post it over here to make it easier to find for anyone that is looking at these two tires.

On my '10 F150, I have 2 BFG KO and 2 Nitto Terra Grapplers. Truck is a super-crew, short bed, 4x4, stock ride height.

The TG were put on my truck @ 55k miles, the BFG KO's @60k. As of this morning, I have 108k on the truck. I rotate the tires every 15k-20k. BFG are quieter, roll smoother at low speed, and don't seem to cup as easy. TG's have worn better overall - have more tread left. At low speed, when they are on the front, I could feel the lugs bumpbumpbump on the pavement. Above 10mph, I don't really notice it, and I don't notice it when they are on the back. When they are on the front, I can hear them at speed, but they are not loud, just noticeable.

Off road - I only do beach / bay trails, not tough stuff, and I avoid places that look like stuck, - no tough stuff. Both do good, the truck feels solid and in control over hard and soft sand, light mud, and turf. I have not noticed any difference between them front vs rear i.e. this one better at steering, that one better at powering. I was satisfied with both, in the light off roading I do. They are much better than the stock OEM Pirrille "AT" Scorpions - which felt like they were skating any time I left the pavement.

Gas mileage - went down about .5 mpg with the first two Nittos, and another .5 with the two BFG KO's.

Size is 285/55r20, up a hair over the stock 275/55r20. Looking at the truck, the BFG's looked bigger. When I put a tape on them, though, the NTG measured out about a 1/4" bigger - go figure. Also, the Nitto is wider. 285mm = about 11.22 inches. The BFG measured out right at 11 and a quarter. the Nitto was also right at 11.25", across a single row of tread blocks, but each row of tread blocks is offset 1/2" from the next - one in, one out. So across one row of blocks, the tire is the true 11.25", but if you measure across two rows at the wide points, you get about 11.75". I don't know if this "extra" half inch will add anything to rolling resistance, or off-road performance, but it seems worth noting.

BFG's are about to be replaced, one tire as a cut and a nail, so has to be replaced, and with almost 50k on them, and about a 1/4" of tread left, I don't want to only replace one. That cut - I found a razor blade stuck in my tire when it was almost new. It was an old utility blade, stuck mostly point in, back 1/3 of the blade ground off by the road. Buried about 3/4" at the point, with about a 1.5" long cut in the lug. I pulled the blade, cut off the leading edge of the lug it was in, and drove it for another 45k miles. Now it is leaking a bit - plus the cut is starting to open up, plus a nail, well, it is time to go.

After this "experiment", if I had to chose between the two, I would be tempted to buy the Nittos based on price. If the extra money for the BFG's is no issue, they do run a bit quieter on the road. Neither would be a bad choice, IMHO.

Favorite Lure

Do any of ya'll have a favorite individual lure. Not a type of lure, but one particular lure that maybe you have caught the fish of a lifetime, always produced, or just brings back a good memory.

Mine is this old hot pink 52MR Mirrolure. I've had it for about 10 years. It has been beaten and battered. It has battled specks, reds, smacks, snook, blacktips, and one tarpon and has won almost every time. I have replaced the hooks on it more times than I know. I was cleaning out my tackle box today, and I've decided to retire it before I lose it to a smack.

Do ya'll have any particular connection to an individual lure?

Shipping a lower unit

Rockport today

I am in Rockport and fished this morning. No boat so I am fishing places from the bank or wading.

This morning I fished one of my favorite places and caught about 20 specks but only 3 keepers. Two 15.5 inchers and a 20". There bellies were full of glass minnows and some shad about a1/2 inch long.

All fish were caught on a chicken on a chain 4" sea shad. I have been wanting to learn to use paddle tails so that is the only bait I brought. I would reel it steady then stop reeling. It seemed like when I started reeling after the pause they would eat it.

Help finding lost kayak

Saturday a few friends went kayaking on Bolivar in the ICW. Things got rough in a hurry with the weather. One of the kayaks capsized. It had trolling motor on it so it's registered and has Tx #s on it. It was too rough to recover at the time. When they returned to locate it was gone. This happened right were you can cut out of the ICW towards Hannah's Reef. Any help with information would be great. Thanks in advance 2coolers!

Help with pond

I am having a small pond put on our place in Conroe. It will be about 60' X 80' and 8' deep. I want to put catfish in it once it fills up (may take a while). I have seen advice given to someone a while back on how to properly start a pond and what to put in. I figure I need some sort of bait fish (perch, fat head minnows) before the catfish go in. I was thinking of cutting down a couple of cedars and putting them in the bottom of the pond. Cement them in standing up in the bottom like Christmas trees for cover. This pond is just clay all around, no structure at all.

Any advise would be appreciated.
